AVENGERS: ENDGAME Is Smashing INFINITY WAR Presale Numbers In China And Could Set A New Record

Avengers: Endgame isn't just breaking records stateside, it's smashing them internationally as well. Tickets for Marvel's upcoming blockbusters went on sale in China on Friday, and according to Maoyan Box Office System (via Deadline), Avengers: Endgame sold over one million tickets in just the first six hours.

As Deadline notes, "This is a record for all movies in the Middle Kingdom; not even a Chinese New Year title has crossed the 1M admission level in the same amount of time."

Endgame
is smashing the presale ticket numbers of its predecessor and current all-time presale record-holder, Avengers: Infinity War. In just its first hour of presales, the movie topped the first 24 hours of Infinity War, and in its first three hours, it topped  first seven days of presales.

Avengers: Endgame is currently estimated to do at least $75 million in presales in China, which would set the record. Some are even predicting $100 million in presales for the upcoming blockbuster. Infinity War is the current record-holder with $65 million.

Avengers: Infinity War went on to open to a whopping $199.3 million in China (unadjusted). If these current Endgame numbers are any indication of the film's performance in The Middle Kingdom, the movie should easily surpass the estimates of an $800 million worldwide debut, possibly even reaching $850 million.

Avengers: Endgame will open on April 24 in China where it will have the luxury of a five-day launch weekend. It opens domestically two days later on April 26.

@aflynn - Now that I look at it again, the way Avengers 1 was filmed does kinda look like an ABC special. Lol

@KWilly - yep I always Noticed that and don't like watching clips from it because of that. It's joss whedon style. Annoying he likes that TV look

@KWilly @litobirdy - Although I agree (mostly because of the 16:9 ratio), I think it's the most comic looking movie. Allmost any shot could be a comic book panel

@MalseMarcel - You do realize that 16:9 is a standard cinematic aspect ratio? Jurassic Park and many other blockbusters were shot in 16:9.

bkmeijer2 - 4/13/2019, 7:01 AM
@Skrull - Yeah I know, but most other marvel movies have a wider aspect ratio (or not and I just remember differently). For a movie of such scale (Ant-Man for example would be a different story), 16:9 makes it feel less cinematic a wider one

It should beat Titanic's $2.18b, unsure if it will surpass Avatar's $2.78b though - especially given Detective Pikachu on the horizon.

@Scarilian - oh I would love to see Avatar dethroned. Avatar was a pretty movie but let's face it, it wasn't very good and does not deserve the number one spot. I will honestly be surprised if Endgame doesn't topple it!!

@Scarilian - In my opinion it should be able to top Titanic. This movie is already breaking records and is aiming for a 800 mil opening weekend. I really expect it to do 2.23 bil in the end

@Manmarvel. Maybe if Endgame is in cinemas for 34 weeks too it will
