Avengers: Endgame isn't just breaking records stateside, it's smashing them internationally as well. Tickets for Marvel's upcoming blockbusters went on sale in China on Friday, and according to Maoyan Box Office System (via Deadline),
Avengers: Endgame sold over one million tickets in just the first six hours.
As Deadline notes,
"This is a record for all movies in the Middle Kingdom; not even a Chinese New Year title has crossed the 1M admission level in the same amount of time."
Endgame is smashing the presale ticket numbers of its predecessor and current all-time presale record-holder,
Avengers: Infinity War. In just its first hour of presales, the movie
topped the first 24 hours of
Infinity War, and in its first three hours, it topped first seven days of presales.
Avengers: Endgame is currently estimated to do at least $75 million in presales in China, which would set the record. Some are even predicting $100 million in presales for the upcoming blockbuster.
Infinity War is the current record-holder with $65 million.
Avengers: Infinity War went on to open to a whopping $199.3 million in China (unadjusted). If these current
Endgame numbers are any indication of the film's performance in The Middle Kingdom, the movie should easily surpass
the estimates of an $800 million worldwide debut, possibly even reaching $850 million.
Avengers: Endgame will open on April 24 in China where it will have the luxury of a five-day launch weekend. It opens domestically two days later on April 26.
