AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - Joe Russo And Kevin Feige Tease That Death Is Coming For Our Heroes

It's been foreshadowed for a while, but audiences shouldn't expect every Avenger to make it out of Infinity War in one piece. In a new interview, Joe Russo and Kevin Feige have teased the film's stakes.

"Death follows him like a shadow."

The chilling statement from the Avengers: Infinity War Comic-Con trailer provides a small glimpse into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Earth's Mightiest Heroes are going to struggle to take on Thanos, and not all of them will be making it out alive.

While Age of Ultron began with foreshadowing the Avengers' demise, the principal cast continue to soldier foreward (with some fakeouts along the way, such as Nick Fury's death). However, Infinity War co-director Joe Russo promised MTV that audiences should be prepared for the emotional impact the film will deliver. “I think fans should prepare for some very intense surprises in these movies. My brother [Anthony Russo] and I believe in stakes. I believe that everything has to come to an end at some point in order for it to have value. I think the audience should be prepared.”

Kevin Feige was a little more playful with the subject, joking that major characters such as Phil Coulson and Quicksilver have met their end, but when pressed further on the major players, Feige said, “It’ll be emotional for a lot of different reasons. As all our films try to do, we want to have the laughs, we want to have the heart, we want to have the humor, and Infinity War has all of that.”

Who do you think will end up biting the dust in Infinity War? Let us know your predictions in the comments.

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment - the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

@KungFuKoala - id be willing to bet pretty much everyone from phase 1 except for maybe War Machine is done for. It just makes sense from a contract standpoint, the new team by the end of this will probably be Doctor Strange, Spiderman, maybe War Machine Scarlet Witch, Vision (though he will probably die for a bit bc of the gem getting stolen by Thanos) Bucky as Cap, Ant-Man/Wasp, Falcon, and then maybe the Guardians will lose Drax, Gamora and Nebula to the Black Order killing them

@KungFuKoala - None of the biggies because their money makers and people will show up to see them even in cameos like Stan Lee.

Imagine if they killed Stand Lee in earlier movies. Biggies are safe

@KungFuKoala - Do you mean in pt2? Cause Chris Evans has already been confirmed for the next Avengers film as have RDJ and others, so I dont think we will see Cap dead in Inifnity War...

@KWilly - hopefully they do it, would have everyone in the theatre balling their eyes to see it.
But they do it they'll have a statue of the core avengers team
Or what do you think?

@JustUsLeague - how badass would that be?

@narrow290 - it wouldn't be badass at all, it would be cheap, and it would ruin the "all your favorite characters in one movie" feeling.. if one of them is just some stupid alien.

-_-

[frick]in skrulls.

@narrow290 - it would be insane if that was revealed. Hawkeyes "secret family" could be more Skrulls that he reports too. Makes sense if Captain Marvel is set in the 90s and they've just been hiding in plain sight
