Despite reports that a stand-in would be shooting the vast majority of Benedict Cumberbatch's Avengers: Infinity War scenes, he's been spotted on the movie's set a number of times and is expected to play a key role in the battle with Thanos when the Mad Titan arrives looking for the Infinity Stones (one of which is hanging around the neck of the Sorcerer Supreme in the form of the Eye of Agamotto).
In a new interview, Cumberbatch was asked about what fans should expect from the highly anticipated 2018 release and while he wouldn't delve into what Doctor Strange is up to, he did say the following:
"It’s ten years coming. It’s just a huge, huge, huge amount of work, huge amount of storylines and it’s all sort of pointing to this confrontation. It’s amazing to part of it even though I’m late to the party, it’s very cool one to be part of it."
We don't know if Strange is going to appear in Avengers 4 too but chances are Strange is going to have a major part in both movies, especially as it's previously been reported that Marvel Studios envisions Cumberbatch as the new face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe once Robert Downey Jr. moves on.
