Edward Norton Talks About Hulk and The Avengers Movie

Have Bruce Banner and Marvel Studios reached an agreement regarding his return for the planned team-up film?

SuperHeroHype had the chance to talk to Edward Norton and Tim Blake Nelson about the movie "The Leaves Of Grass." While they were there they decided to ask him some questions about The Hulk and Marvel.

This from SuperHeroHype.....

For those unaware, Norton had some issues with the final cut of Louis Letterier's movie, which he had co-written, but when asked in the years since then, he has been somewhat dismissive of the idea of returning.

When asked today whether he has had any communication with Marvel since then, Norton's response was cheerfully optimistic about things working themselves out. "Yeah, to some degree, through my agents," he told us, "But there's always been an agenda I think to unspool a lot of the Marvel Universe and then come back... I think they've got a lot of new stuff that they're rolling out and then I think at some point they're going to figure out how they want to get around to 'Avengers.'"

"The main guy I had a beef with there left anyways, as always happens," he admitted. "As David Mamet said, 'Just wait 'em out cause they'll be gone, and you'll still be there.'"

He better be there for AVENGERS, though IF not BANA's still cool!

What more important is that we actually have HULK in it, also HANK & JAN!!!

But still.... NORTON's a big must for THE AVENGERS picture!

Yeah, I though TIH was great also. If Norton comes back The Avengers is going to be stacked with great actors.

Come on Tyler Dur-I mean Ed Norton (*looks awkwardly around the room*), come on back man. You rocked as Bruce Banner, it just won't be the same without ya!

At least this sounds somewhat optimistic though, that's a plus.

When it comes down to it, Norton is gonna have very little screen time, seeing as how the focus will be on the Hulk and not Banner. The Hulk will be in the movie, even if they don't use Norton/Banner.Depending on how much time passes during the movie, I can see them getting away with him being the Hulk and never changing back.

Norton could do Banner's role in the Avengers movie with a couple of days of shooting. That makes scheduling him much easier. I'm sure if the Hulk is a main player, like rumors predict, they could work something out with Norton.

After seeing norton as banner, I couldn't picture anyone else playing hulk/banner! He put up an AWESOME performance.

A HUGE STUDIO WOULD NEVER SIGN UP A ACTOR FOR A BIG BUDGET FRANCHISE GENERATING CHARACTER AND NOT SIGN HIM FOR MORE THAN ONE MOVIE, THAT WOULD BE A RETARDED MOVE NOT TO.

He was right to be a little upset with the final edit of TIH. The cut scenes really underscored the love triangle between Banner, Betty, and Samson which is really important in later subsequent Hulk stories. Furthermore, deleting the scene when he was in Canada committing suicide better explained why jumping out of the helicopter was the only way he could force the Hulk to come out.

Why are they creating the avengers? What bad guy or group is coming for them/to form. I've heard the hulk may be but that just seems to simple

I agree with Phin about one thing especially: that suicide scene should have been left in. Anyone who disagrees gets a...a....a lead salad! *runs out the door with underwear and no pants on*

@Morgatron: Kang the Conqueror!

Ed Norton is one of my most favorite actors and he seems like a smart guy (plus he banged Selma Hayek). Can't wait to see him come back as Banner. If they use some of the Ultimates stuff, Banner could be in a large part of the film.

And great find. It would be awesome if we could stop getting Hulk vs Tank and more Hulk against bad guys.

You could tell in The Incredible Hulk special features how much this role meant to Norton - he did things that most actors wouldnt have bothered to do (or even would have needed to do) and as a result we got a damned good movie that by rights should have had a sequel this year!

I have faith that as long as Marvel work to allow him to do what he does best, he'll be back for The Avengers...fingers crossed that Letterier coms back to direct it! :)

Sounds promising! At least he definitely seems open to a return. As was stated in other posts, his involvement in The Avengers would amount to little more than an extended cameo(s) as the Hulk would most likely get 90% of the screen time.It would be an easy gig for him and keep himin the mix for a meatier part down the road. Here's hoping!

Good thing.

Altough the movie was mediocre, he played Bruce very well. I really hope he is back.

Since we are discussing Norton and The Avengers, I'll mention Thor. I just stumbled accross this pic of Hemsworth on the set of Red Dawn.

Yes, I know we have seen those pics of him in that long sleeve pullover. In this one he is wearing a tee shirt. It gives you a little better idea of what his size is than the other pics. Remember also that this is from Oct. so five months ago.

Doesn't anybody else think it's strange you can find pics of the dude at steady intervals throughout his career up until the time he starts working out for Thor?

I know Marvel has Tim Roth signed for a few more movies... Where do you thing he will fit into the Marvel universe? Would you bring him back as Blonsky or give him another hero property to work on?

I love hearing Nortons become more optimistic. Incredible Hulk was just that, INCREDIBLE! I walked straight out of that movie, into a comic shop and bought a bunch of Peter David's Hulk stuff. I hope like hell we get a Hulk sequel.

If they go Stan Lee style, Norton could do inner monologue through voice over during the Avengers.

Awesome news. This honestly made my day. I loved TIH, to me it was better than Iron Man, o I hope they do 5 more movies with Norton as Banner/Hulk.
@peterparker I agree with you 100%! I too can't imagine anyone else after Norton.
