Mark Ruffalo Reveals First Specific Details On His Transformation Into The Hulk!

While we already know that Marvel will be using motion capture technology for The Avengers, the actor has now detailed how this effect is created and reveals what it was like seeing himself as the Hulk for the first time...

In a recent interview with British newspaper, The Telegraph, the actor revealed some key details about how Marvel Studios will use motion capture technology to transform him into the Incredible Hulk in The Avengers. And judging from his below comments, it looks like he's already tried it out!

Given that Ruffalo is slim, shortish and seemingly untroubled by anger issues, this is either very bold or very batty casting. Ruffalo isn’t sure himself, although he’s excited. The Avengers will be shot using a technique called 'motion capture' whereby he’ll be digitally transformed into the Hulk at the same time as playing him.

"There’s this algorithm that digitally puts 2,000lbs of muscle onto my body. It’s weird. I wear this skinny little suit with reflective balls all over it," he says. "When we shot the stuff, I was actually standing in a warehouse with a couple of cardboard boxes and some foam mats. But when I looked at the monitor there I was as the Hulk in this landscape with cars and boulders and hills."

Also starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr and Chris Hemsworth, The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!

i don't mind that they keep changing bruce banner as long as they keep casting good actors like ed norton and mark ruffalo to play him

Why wouldn't they just keep the same CGI Hulk from the Incredible Hulk?

I get that Banner has to look different cause of the actors, but that shouldn't have anything to do with the actual Hulk.

Yeah, HULK doesn't have to look like this guy. It's bad enough he's doing the movements. I don't remember the HULK looking much like Norton and that was fine. But it's a film company, they can't help doing unessessary things until they [frick] it all up. This turd is Banner, ok, but we don't have to see his goofy face on the HULK. He's going to look like Ron Howards brother from that one episode of star trek.

I hate this guy as Banner. Looks nothing like him, doesn't look a f**k all bit of intelligent either. One of the worst castings ever for so important of a movie. Norton belonged to this role, Marvel really dropped the ball here big time!!!!

@Assassin666 Calm down little man it's almost bed time. Go put your pj's on. Can you wait till you see the movie before you say this is one of the worst castings ever. Didn't people say that about Heath Ledger as Joker and we know how that turned out.

Yes Hulk looked great in TIH but seriously folks why keep him the same? Why not benefit from the advance in technology since then?

This is going to be hilarious once we get set pictures with Thor and Captain actually being in suits and Ruffalo and Downey Jr in motion capture suits in the middle of it.

Eric Bana: Motion capture performed by Ang Lee. Edward Norton: motion Capture done by some one other than Norton. So my hat is off to Mark Ruffalo for taking on this daunting task. Hell, they could have gotten Andy Serkis, he did Golem and King Kong! lol

Since we're stuck with this guy, what the hell happened to him? I'm looking at some pictures where his face looks slimmer and his hair is shorter cropped more like Banner. Did he just age into this big hair, douchebag car salesman creep look?

WTF?

indoraptor12, yeah, I'll admit he is very Bannerish in the the first two pics (especially the first one). If he's going to look like that, and not how he looks in these interviews and recent photos with that greying Ronald McDonald wig and chubby face, I would definitely tone down my hatred of the casting.

YES THE HULK SHOULD LOOK LIKE THE ACTOR. Seriously. The Hulk is still Bruce Banner, just giant and green. The Hulk in TIH looks NOTHING LIKE THE ACTOR. This is one of the film's flaws. Ang Lee's Hulk looked better, even if his movie wasn't as good.
