Marvel President Kevin Feige Shares Status on Marvel Films!!

Also apart of the big LA Times interview, Marvel President talks about Iron Man 2 finishing up, and Captain America

Wednesday was a big day for Marvel Studios because director Jon Favreau wrapped up "Iron Man 2." Kevin Feige, Marvel's president of production, was in a celebratory mood, but it was split with with anger over the New York Daily News reports, which Feige called "garbage."

Feige said the plan to meld the Marvel Universe on the silver screen will move forward dramatically now and he said there are some surprises in "Iron Man 2" that set up an unexpected bond to the "Captain America" movie that director Joe Johnston is doing early work on now in England.

Samuel L. Jackson will NOT be in "Thor."

"Now many of the pieces are in place ... with 'Iron Man 2' finished and 'Thor' more than halfway done, that lattice work is being built."

Feige said Branagh is proving to be the ideal choice for "Thor" -- the executive knew he would be after seeing the buoyant and accessible "Much Ado About Nothing," which made Shakespeare fun and funny even to "comic book fans like me," Feige said. He added: "You could actually laugh and understand all of it."

"there are some surprises in "Iron Man 2" that set up an unexpected bond to the "Captain America" movie that director Joe Johnston is doing early work on now in England."

Fury will show Stark Cap's body frozen in ice, and the Cap movie will begin with them unfreezing him. BOO-YAH!

Good Stuff MF! Didn't know Branagh has always been a Thor fan:

"Growing up, my single comic book passion was Thor," says the 49-year-old actor and filmmaker who surprised many industry observers by taking on the director's job on the big-budget adaptation of the Marvel Comics thunder god. "From my time in Belfast as a kid, that's the first time I came across that comic, really, exclusively, I don't know why, but it struck a chord. I was drawn to it. I liked all the dynastic drama."

@ wolverine and SHHH

they said the Cap movie will be in present time for the beginning and ending. so they'll probably unfreeze him, and he'll trip out thinking he's still in WWII. then they'll calm him down and it'll flash back to his origin in WWII. then at the end it will probably flash back to modern times, and he'll join Fury.

thats how i see it happening anyway...

I watched 'Sunshine' again the other day and it reminded me how brilliant Chris Evans can be. If he gives a performance like that in Captain America he'll silence all the critics.

Garrett Hedlund, Armie Hammer and Mike Vogel are all unproven actors that would get lost in the background of the Avengers cast.

The only worry I have about the Captain America movie is Joe Johnston. Very doggy director.

I said it once, so I'll say it again. At the end of the credits of IM2, everyone will find out who Cap is.

That would be awesome! Here'e how I would like the final scene to go:
Fury- "Tony Stark, this is Dr. Hank Pym."
They shake hands.
Fury- "Gentlemen, there's something I'd like you to see."
They enter a room with the frozen Captain America being thawed out. The face is obscured because at this point because he hasn't been casted yet, but the torso is unfrozen and you can see the star.
I would nerdgasm if they did something like that! I'm not sure if they could have casted Pym without it getting out, but you never know!

Kevin Feige is the man. Him and Jon Favreau have basically spearheaded everything that makes comic book movies great. Whatever they're paying this guy, it isnt enough.

If Nick Furry will not appear in Thor then there must be some other element that will clue audiences that it takes place in the same world as IM, TIH, IM2, Cap and Avengers. I wonder what it will be?

Nick Fury may not have "exactly" been in the Incredible Hulk, his physical character anyway, but his name can be seen during the opening credits of the movie. It's a very, very quick showing, but his name is in there.
