My Thoughts On The CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Trailer

So the first trailer finally dropped like a bomb on us last night! Check out the video down below for a little reaction, but most importantly a discussion on the trailer starting at 3:00m.

 



Ultimately, it is a movie I am definitely looking forward to and will most likely see opening day! However I did feel the scope of this movie is not represented, or is only CIVIL WAR by name, and not exactly the story in the comics. For obvious reasons it would be too many characters/stories to stuff in, but this did feel a bit more like "CIVIL BATTLE", than "CIVIL WAR". 

Side note, Black Panther looks like an absolute beast and stole this trailer for me as he outran Cap!

Like all Marvel movies, Civil War takes elements from the comics, but it is not a direct translation.

@pjspider I never expect any movie adaptation of a book or comic to be direct translation, but Im still hoping we feel like its more of a war. I can see the media getting involved in the movie and putting it out there to the people. Thatll be interesting.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's more likely to be a war between the Avengers with government help on Tony's side. Age of Ultron was a title from the comics as well, but didn't really use the same story.

I loved the TWS and the political tone but I was kind of underwhelmed with the trailer. Not only because of the lack of Spiderman, Vision, Antman, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (who shouldn have died), but maybe this tone just doesnt feel right for a world where superheroes exist. I prefered the tone of AOU which really felt like the comics. I think this movie should have been set after Infinity War, with more heroes and not focused on CA. I wanted a big war between superheroes with destruction and this:

Also I have a feeling that they will ruin Zemo as they did with Mandarin. I love the Russos but really? Their excuse for this is that it would have been predictable??

Moreover this does not feel like the right tone for Infinity War. At all. The Russos seem to be ashamed of showing the more comicbooky aspects of the MCU. It felt like Scarlet witch didnt even belong to this tone in the trailer.

BruceWillis - I'm not sure what you're getting at with your third comment. Can't exactly have a Captain America movie with a tone suited for Infinity War.

@DeusExSponge I know. I think this tone is perfect for CA solo movies. What I meant was that the Russo brothers are going to direct Infinity War, and I hope that they go with the tone of AOU instead of this TDK/Bourne kind of tone. Whedon would have been PERFECT for IW.
