Nothing too revealing here, but thanks to New Hollywood's Twitter, we now know that Marvel Studios' The Avengers has shut down one of the Albuquerque International Sunport Airport's largest runways for set construction:

Below is an aerial image of the Albuquerque International Sunport Airport:

I believe that the images below are of the north runway of the airport, but I'm not 100% certain:

Regardless, there certainly is a lot of open space for filming, so one might assume that when New Hollywood says they're building a big set, the word "big" is an understatement...

It's probably because some of the editors have a grudge against me after a little dispute this morning...

Whatever, though. I don't write articles for fame and money from adsense like some people. I write them simply to keep the good people on here up-to-date.

The left of the two pictures is of the SOUTH end of the North/South runway, identified as 17/35. This is the oldest and second shortest runway at the airport and is so old that it has been de-rated because it can no longer withstand the weight of the commercial airlines--so they CANNOT use it anyway. The city is attempting to close the runway entirely because of maintenance costs. Only a portion of the NORTH end of the runway will be closed for the movie set (which is supposed to portray the deck of an aircraft carrier) so existing airport traffic likely will not even notice the partial closure.
