While reading an interview with Zak Penn over at
SFX (no idea why the guy is still talking about
The Avengers when it's a well know fact that Joss Whedon has rewritten the script) I noticed something a little strange at the end of their report.
The Avengers will be released by Walt Disney Studios on 27 April 2012. At first, I figured that it must have been a mistake of some sort. After all, May 4th is the date we've all been counting down to for the past year or more.
Well, after doing a little digging, it seem that this is indeed when
The Avengers will be released in the UK. Several other reputable news sites use it when writing about the movie, while it's also listed on the likes of FilmDates.co.uk. As some of you may recall, Paramount released both
Iron Man 2 and
THOR in the UK two weeks before they came out in the US, and while most of the world (including us Brits) have had to wait an extra week for
Captain America: The First Avenger, I'd say Disney doing this just about makes us even, wouldn't you?
Be sure to share your thoughts on this news in the usual place!
