RUMOR: After Helming JUSTICE LEAGUE's Reshoots, Joss Whedon May Not Be Back For BATGIRL

Joss Whedon was hired by Warner Bros. to write and direct Justice League's reshoots but a new report claims that the filmmaker may not be coming back for Batgirl. Find out why after the jump...

Earlier this year, Joss Whedon's ex-wife penned a damning editorial about the filmmaker. It didn't have much of an impact on his career as he continued working on Justice League's reshoots but things have changed given recent Hollywood sex scandals and it's entirely feasible that more stories about Whedon could start doing the rounds (his pretty pervy Wonder Woman screenplay also lost him a lot of fans).

Well, there may some ramifications for that as a new report claims that Warner Bros. no longer wants the director to take the helm of Batgirl because of the negative press surrounding his personal life. This seems believable but bear in mind that this story isn't coming from one of the trades and should most definitely be categorised as a rumour for the time being as the source is definitely questionable.

It's also mentioned that Warner Bros. wasn't overjoyed with Whedon's work on Justice League and that's also put them off bringing him back for the female-led release. We'll just have to wait and see but nothing concrete has been revealed, so who knows! What do you guys think of these claims? Do you still want to see Whedon's Batgirl? As always, share your thoughts in the comments section below.

There won't be a Batgirl you mean.

@MrMasculinity - I think there will be but it will spin off of the next Batman film.

@Forthas - They will need to reboot the universe first in my opinion. I mean, the DCEU is literally toxic. They need to do Flashpoint, reboot, solo films for main characters and only then spin-off characters. We're talking about 7 years at least.

Whedon has done a lot with powerful female leads I’d be intrigued by this.

@whynot - Difficult to put a womanizer in charge of a female led film these days in Hollywood. Hell, hard to find work for those sex abusers and womanizers in today's world. That is a good thing though. For a guy who cheated on his wife for years with young and upcoming actresses, karma is finally coming around. I hope he continues to have problems finding work.

@TheGoat - delving in someone’s personal life is B$ though. It’s come to a point where actors can’t have a moment of privacy. As long as he didn’t rape anyone or committed pedophilia I don’t see how this is vital information for the public to have. Everyone has skeletons in their closet. Fact is Joss Whedon has done wonders for the MCU. He made them billions. If he had complete control over JL the movie would be on track for a billion easy

I'm guessing they want to re-capture the Female Director success from Wonder Woman.

Although there's no credible source, I actually do believe Batgirl won't happen. Honestly I doubt Whedon even wants to stay after this whole mess.
