SDCC '13: WB Announce New DC Animated Films; ASSAULT ON ARKHAM & SON OF BATMAN

Warner Bros. has announced two new titles for the 2014 lineup of animated feature films. The first is set within the Batman: Arkham game universe, while the second is based off a Grant Morrison comic..

After an overwhemingly positive response to the premiere screening of Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Warner Bros went on to announce the 2014 lineup of animated films. The first being Justice League: War based off of Geoff Johns' New 52 Justice League comic. The second and third films are called Batman: Assault On Arkham and Son Of Batman. We don't yet know (for sure) what these films are based on, so we're hoping for clarification from the panel soon. According to users at Toonzone forums, Assault On Arkham is based within Rocksteady's video game franchise, while Son Of Batman is based upon Grant Morrison's famous introductory story for Damian Wayne.

How do you feel about more Batman films? Do you think it's great that they are exploring the character's rich history or would you rather they focus on other Justice Leaguers?

Pretty sure AICN's source was referring to this slate of movies.

I'm holding my hopes for a sequel to MOS. Anything else is just a blessing at this point.

Damn it! Not their fault but I misread this and thought they were making an animated film of the Super Sons, the son of batman and the son of Superman.

We need MOAR Superman and others as well... Even if some don't sell as well as others. D:
Oh oh oh! And everyone will probably agree with this but we need an animated short souly focused on Martian Manhunter.

Was really hopping for another Wonder Woman. The first one is my favorite DC Animated movie.

I want to see Son of Batman. Assault on Arkham not so much. They could have used the Justice League banner to tell a Wonder Woman or Green Lantern story.

Marvel should make their animated show kiddy while leaving their animated movies for a more mature audience. Non of this motion comics BS. LOOK AT DC, they're pumping out these animated movies cause they want to appeal to their older fans. That's what I call fan recognition!

Can't wait!

Though I wanted to see Arkham Asylum as a live action film for a reboot.

I'd like to see Flash and Aquaman animated movies. Heck, I'd like to see movie versions of the Green Arrow and Jonah Hex shorts.

Woopy F'in Doo DC animation. More Batman is what I reallly want from animation. NOT! They are just going for the sure things really now.

Aquaman new 52 stuff deserves its own animated film.

Was looking foward to another Wonder Woman animated follow movie from the one from 2008.

After watching Justice League Flashpoint, I wouldn't mind a Flash animated movie based on the rouges with that voice cast

They've said lots of times there isn't another Wonder Woman animated film in devleopment, nor do they plan on doing Aquaman. I'm very excited for JL: War, and this Arkham one.

I'd be happy if they did a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle team up animated short. That would be hilarious!

Where is MAC?

Didn't he say DC animated movies would do great without Timm?

HA WHAT A LOAD OF BULL!!!

Same Bat time, same Bat channel.

Timm had Green Lantern films, Wonder Woman. Now 2 Batman films next year. Smh. Don't even bring up The Dark Knight Returns because that is completely different.

Bring back Timm.

So is this it for DC animation or are they going to announce more films?

While I am very pleased to know that Bruce Timm is doing some Batman shorts, I'm not too keen on the announced movies after Flashpoint Paradox. Admittedly, I'm somewhat hesitant of the new 52 Justice League movie, but I'll give it a shot. However, TWO Batman films after this??!!! Come on, James Tucker! I thought you said that you guys were going to introduce new characters in interesting new ways.

Now, while the next two movies will be introducing Damian Wayne and perhaps Batman's rogues, do we really need those two films? What about a Young Justice movie? Or Suicide Squad? Or perhaps Demon Knights? Or, oh, I don't know..an Aquaman film? Don't get me wrong, I will most definitely still check out those latter two mentioned DC films, but I was expecting something new and fresh.

Sometimes I wonder if you guys realize you're sitting on a gold mine of some of the most interesting heroes/villains in the DC library.

Do we really need two Batman films? How about a sequel to First Flight? How about a Flash movie?

Really disappointed DC is still relying heavily on Batman instead of other lesser known characters.

If you want WB/DC to make the movies you want, go out and buy them when they are released! THAT's why they don't make them enough, because nobody buys them. Even the non-comic book GA think a Batman or Justice League cartoon ought to be worth picking up for their friends, family or even themselves. GL, WW and whoever else don't sell well enough. Why do you think they focused on B-listers like Spectre, Captain Marvel and Green Arrow through shorts found only on the Blu Rays of the other big movies? that way they could guarantee people would see them.

Downloading/Streaming these movies and them complaining they don't make them enough makes you sound like an entitled baby.

DC needs to do Emerald Twilight. Hal Jordan becoming Parallax is classic.

Maybe make it a part 1 - part 2 typa thing.
Part 1 being Hal as Parallax and Part 2 being Rebirth.
