JOKER Origin Movie Is Reportedly Set To Begin Shooting Very Soon; Joaquin Phoenix Remains "Interested"

We got an update on the status of several upcoming DC Films projects earlier on, and now we have some news on Warner Bros.' planned Joker origin film, which still has Joaquin Phoenix attached to star...

Looks like we may have some idea of when Todd Philips' standalone Joker movie is scheduled to begin shooting.

The Tracking Board's Jeff Sneider shared what appears to be part of a larger press release of some sort, which reveals the project's logline and lists a start date of May 1, 2018. We recently found out that Joaquin Phoenix was in talks for the lead role of the Clown Prince of Crime, and this also reveals his status as "interested".

So, can we trust this information? Well, Sneider is usually a reliable source but even he cautions that the details are subject to change. He also seems to have posted this during a little Twitter rant, so we should probably take it with a pinch of salt until we learn more.

Yay the Joker origin movie starts filming in a couple months. Not The Flash. Not Green Lantern. Not Superman. Hooray. I love all of DC/WB’s decisions.

@TheUnworthyThor - I didn't even think this movie got past the "rumor" stage. Now we're supposedly gonna start filming? Lol

Can't believe they are fast-tracking THIS movie instead of...ohhhh i dunno, anything else, like that Green Lantern Corps movie or a second standalone movie for a certain character...

@Doomsday8888 -
Why would you want GLC to be fast-tracked?

@Battabing
Because that should be a priority? Helloooo we are talkig about characters like Hal Jordan, Stewart, Kyle, Guy etc....
This is how you build a shared universe, and it's already 2018 while the DCEU started in 2013 ffs.

DC is such a joke right now. After reaching the pinnacle of CBM's with the Dark Knight Trilogy...they move on from it instead of building off of its success and now they are the laughing stock of the industry. They finally fired Zack Snyder four years too late and instead of doing the SMART thing and starting over with the Dark Knight Films and Man of Steel as the foundation and continuing with Man of Steel 2...they keep digging a bigger hole.

My advice to Warner Brothers. Sell they right to Universal/Comcast!
