Ever since now, both Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad have probably some mysteries. One of them is the casting choices, which you have Scoot McNairy, Dan Amboyer, Callan Mulvey, Scott Eastwood, Ike Barinholtz, Alex Meraz, and many others in an unknown role.
In this article we're talking about Callan Mulvey, who was in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and now has joined DC side.
There were lot of choices for this man, rumored to be The Joker (now Jared Leto) at a time, Bizzaro, and even once was tied to the role of John Corben/Metallo.
Although i personally love Mulvey as Metallo since he looks like the character, i don't think he is this Superman villain. At one point, he's rumored likely to be KGBeast (a C-list Batman villain):
(
In comics, Anatoli Knyazev, code-named "The Beast", and known to the C.I.A. as the "KGBeast" was trained as an assassin by "The Hammer," a top secret cell of the KGB. In addition to being the master of several martial arts, his strength was cybernetically enhanced, and he had also mastered the use of every deadly weapon known. At the time of his first appearance.)
However this might not be in case for DCEU version. I've made a twist about this cinematic version of the character that not only it's great, but also works in the way he's adapted. Callan Mulvey is none other than...
...That's right, David Cain himself aka father of Cassandra Cain. I bet many of you are over-thinking why i think David Cain is KGBeast and not Anatoli Knyazev like in comics. After all, here's the back-story of David Cain before, during, and after events of Dawn of Justice, in my view of DCEU:
{Lady Shiva (former lover of David Cain), left and rejected him when she was pregnant and born Cassandra. Years Later, David Cain alone (without Lady Shiva's knowledge of him) joined to work for Lex Luthor, as a powerful assassin to find and frame Batman for death of Lex's girlfriend, as Lex ordered him. David also has harted feelings for the Dark Knight since they faced each other in past.
As David had no interest to be known as himself to the world, he fakes and reveals himself as "Anatoli Knyazev" to Lex and mainstream instead and is code-named "KGBeast", so Batman wouldn't know it's actually David.
After possible KGBeast and Batman encounters in Dawn of Justice, KGBeast might end up being arrested and sent to Arkham Asylum, showing up in "Suicide Squad" movie.
Like the animated film Assault on Arkham, he might be killed off early. Then he'll be unmasked that he's not Anatoli Knyazev as he seemed, but actually David Cain.}
So here is how i think Callan Mulvey gonna appear as David Cain, who fakes himself as "Anatoli Knyazev" and turns into "KGBeast".
However, this theory isn't alone without value reasons. There are following reasons why this theory might work:
1) The character will link to Batman's past before retirement:
One of the interesting facts about this version of Batman is that he has been operating for 20 years (with retirement of course), which none of previous Batmans have done this much. So we must expect Batman had dealt with League of Assasins several times.
And that's where David Cain comes from, he was with League of Assassin alongside Lady Shiva (his former lover), Ra's al Ghul and Talia al Ghul.
Lets say, that Ra's was interested in Batman to make him become his successor (like in comics), although Batman declined. So this makes David jealous because he wanted to be The Demon's Head and that's his harted for Batman comes from. This feeling...
2) Will make KGBeast more interesting and better character with a major motivation:
In my opinion having a minor character like KGBeast appear suddenly in Dawn of Justice as Lex Luthor's powerful assassin, doesn't clear his motivation. We wouldn't understand the character, his possible rivaly with Batman, etc.
So having a character like David Cain (who feels harted for Batman from past), who is faking as "Anatoli Knyazev" and revealing as "KGBeast" might make the character more interesting, because we'd feel why this character doesn't like Batman.
3) His Death might bring Cassandra Cain join Batfamily in a Batman solo movie:
A minor character like David Cain (or KGBeast in disguise) might not reach alive that long. I can see KGBeast be killed off in "Suicide Squad" movie (just like Assault on Arkham animated film), so he'd be unmasked to be revealed as David Cain himself. And later will be buried in Gotham City's Graveyard.
But here's how it'll be interesting:
"Many Years later after events of Suicide Squad movie, Cassandra (who's a teen now) will find out that her father has died and probably visits his Furenal in Gotham City. When she's there, she'll be conforted by Batman who would tell Cassandra's parents history. Batman also requests Cassandra Cain to join Batfamily, so she might accept."
Overall, David Cain's death is a possible reason to bring Cassandra Cain as either Batgirl (after Barbara Gordon) or Black Bat.
