NIGHTWING Director Chris McKay Reveals Why The Film Did Not Appear In The DCEU Slate At Comic-Con

Nightwing may not have been mentioned in the DCEU's upcoming slate of films at Comic-Con, but that doesn't mean he's been forgotten. According to director Chris McKay, the film was left out for a reason...

When Warner Bros. took over Hall H at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, fans were treated with new logos for the DC Extended Universe's upcoming slate of films, albeit without any release dates attached. Of course, fans quickly noticed that several previously announced films were missing from the slate, one of them being Chris McKay's Nightwing, and according to Mckay, there's a reason why the film wasn't mentioned.

Replying to a fan question on Twitter regarding the Nightwing film, McKay revealed why the film was not part of the Warner Bros. Hall H presentation. "I've turned down films because they were backed into a release date that made it difficult to make a great film," said The Lego Batman Movie director. "This isn't going to be like that. I want this movie to blow you away. We need time to get it right."

It looks like the Nightwing solo film is still going strong, and in the right hands with Chris McKay at the helm. We'll just have to be patient and see what McKay has in store for
Batman's first protégé when he makes his live-action film debut.

I rather wait longer for another film like Wonder Woman than get a rushed film like Suicide Squad. Smart move DC.

@PrinceAwesome - I'm 25 and I am still getting my life together. 25 really doesn't feel that old, but it does. Hair is starting to thin. Eyesight is getting bad. Bones ache.

Oh god kill me now. It's only gonna get worse.

But at the same time, I'm totally still a kid.

Good, give filmmakers their time, an an aspirirng filmmaker, who remotely hopes to get a big budget directing gig, I really believe that they need their own freedom and time to get it right

@TheSoulEater - He isn't that good of an actor though. And his voice doesn't fit Nightwing at all.

I'll take Anna Kendrick to be honest, she's not my first or second choice but easily my third

@TheSoulEater @Kr08 -

Jeremy Irvine would make a fantastic headliner as Richard Grayson. His boyish charm shined all throughout his Stonewall film, and his first gig was basically being the leading man in a Spielberg film called War Horse. He definetely has star potential with a resume like that, being 27 years young (so he'll be around his late 20s to his early 30s by the time we see him live), and he is exactly 6'1, just four inches shorter than Affleck which is a reasonable stature imo.

Just my two pennies fellas.

He was fantastic in War Horse, and actually someone I saw alongside Oliver Queen (played by Nikolaj) as Roy Harper
