According to Hollywood Life, the star of Christopher Nolan's Inception is the front runner to don the question mark undies in Nolan's follow up to The Dark Knight..

The site claims that an inside source close to Nolan told them that Levitt is his first choice to play The Riddler in the next Batman movie..

“Chris really dug Joseph [as an actor],” a source close to the director tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “There was a joke at first between them [on the set of Inception] that Joseph wanted to read for Batman 3 and things heated up as filming continued.”

Adds the insider, “It’s not 100% confirmed that he’s getting [the role of The Riddler] but there’s certainly talk about it. Joseph is definitely on the short list.” This should make fans happy, especially as several fan sites have expressed a wish to see the 500 Days of Summer cutie score the role!



I'm not buying this one. This sounds like a rumor spawned by the internet buzz for Levitt to replace Heath Ledger as The Joker because of his strikingly similar appearance and working relationship with Nolan on Inception. When Nolan revealed last week that there was no way we would be seeing the Joker again, the rumor mill just changed up. Either that, or, its true! Levitt is an extremely talented actor, and he may just have caught Nolan's eye for a part, even if its not The Riddler(oh please let it not be The Riddler!). Anyway, thats rumors for ya. Get those fingers working and confirm or debunk below.

Long time reader, first time poster. It took this bit of news for me to say something. Please CBM Gods let this be a mistake. Joseph Gordon Levitt should play the Joker. I realize that Nolan will cast whomever he wishes, but I really think that we the fans should try to be heard on this. He's an amazing actor, he looks just like Heath and he worked with Nolan in Inception so he already knows what that's like.

At some point in the movie, Joseph Gordon Levitt's Joker could be in a dark Arkham Asylum cell, talking to Batman (like in the Killing Joke) and that would make the transition easier. Batman can be like a Clarice to Joker's Lecter in trying to find the Riddler. I picture the Riddler as a Unibomber type in the Dark Knight sequel.

I think Nolan is prepping Dicaprio to be the riddler...not Leviit, he's too young for the role...I know hes mature but the riddler is someone who can match wits with the bat

I hear this guy in a phenom actor. Take the Lookout or 500 days of summer. Havnt seen either, truth be told, but he got alot of critical acclaim. I picture the riddler having a slightly different look, but if hes a good actor i can live with it.

Still, i kinda like the old depp rumor. For some reason, that just clicks.

I think he could portray the riddler very well, i guarantee leo will not be in a batman film, plus i dont see him passing as the riddler, i love dicaprio, but this is a damn good choice...

god i [frick]in hope they don't use the riddler. i feel like we've already seen everything from the psychotic anarchist in batman movies plus it was awesome to see the scare crow and would be cool to see a film take on a villain that hasn't had his shot on screen yet. down with the riddler. anyone but the riddler.

I wouldnt be surprised if this is true but I doubt that it is! Levitt's a decent enough actor but I think I'd be happier with some of the other actors I've seen suggested for The Riddler rather than him. However, I have faith that Nolan will make the best choice as he did by casting the "gay cowboy" from Brokeback Mountain and giving us the best Joker ever. RIP Heath.

It really doesn't matter if he looks like Heath because Heath wore makeup and you couldn't even tell it was him and I shouldn't doubt Nolan he is a great director and how he wowed us with Heath and Bale I think Levitts would be great as the Riddler.

Is this the path that the Batman movies are going through just the anarchy of Gotham in its early years of Batman and the evolution of the hero and its villains? Riddler is a good choice as long as he is done like a little more psychotic than he has been in the past and obviously not comically done, I would also like to see the mob power vacuum be closed up with the likes of the Penquin or Black Mask

Well as long as he doesn't suck as bad as he did for GI Joe playing a shitty Cobra Commander I'll be cool with it. 500 Days of Summer was more enjoyable than Rise of the Cornhole too.

@StevilNYC I like that idea a lot take the puzzle thing they started in TDK but take them to a level where Batman has to go to the Joker for help?! That be crazy! If Levitt can be cast as the Joker it wouldn't be as much as a shock if he's just seen in small bursts...
