"I would do Batman in a second, playing anyone," the actor told Empire Magazine. "I’d play The Riddler in the next one, although it would be hard to top Heath as the villain and I’m a little hairy for tights."

Williams went on to reveal that he'd actually come close to playing a villain in both Tim Burton's Batman (1989) and Joel Schumacher's Batman Forever. (1995)

"The Batman films have screwed me twice before: years ago they offered my The Joker and then gave it to Jack Nicholson, then they offered me The Riddler and gave it to Jim Carrey. I’d be like, 'OK, is this a real offer? If it is, then the answer’s yes. Don’t pump me again mother[frick]ers!'"

Hes great in impersonating and was disturbing in the movie "One hour photo". That's he's my choice for the ventriloquist.

Whoah Shaman beat me to it!!!!! Darn that goes to show you how important spelling is here in CBM.

Anyhow, 25 years ago Robin Williams may be a decent choice for the Riddler but now at 58 I thinks he's the right age for Arnold Wesker.

I remember hearing this news when Batman Forever came out in Cinema, and I thought back then he'd have pulled a better Riddler off then Jim Carrey. As good a performance as Carrey's was, it was just Ace Ventura in a green leotard.
Today's Batman needs a different kind of Riddler though. I've just read Brian Azzarello's "Joker" graphic novel and the Riddler has a small cameo in it. The look they've given him would fit in well with Chris Nolan's universe, that's if the Riddler will even be in the next film. I reckon Leonardo Dicaprio could fill the shoes if so, or maybe Sam Rockwell.

While I can't see Williams playing the Riddler, I have to admit that with those pictures of them next to each other they have the same nose, ears and smirk.

When Williams goes dark few can top him. Just look at his part in Nolan's Insomnia.

He can play alot of diffrent kind of thangs. I just dont know where you would put him in the BatMan franchise. But I would like to see him in there could bring another element to a great series.

Shaman/Kalabog: The Ventriloquist? Genius! I could most definitely see him playing that character - it's a role he'd be perfect for in fact! :) He would have made a great Riddler a few years ago but he's just way too old now and I cant see his version of a character like that fitting in the Nolanverse!

I'd like to see him as scarface or clayface. That'd be f'in cool.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 6/25/2010, 5:21 AM
yeah, he could be Scarface, perfect casting choice. too bad we'll never see him in these movies.

AxlKomix - 6/25/2010, 5:23 AM
Yeah, Williams is definitely too old for Riddler now. As Arnold Wesker he would be great. It'd be a good because it would give him an excuse to do all of his crazy voices.

Williams is great as a serious actor, just as he is funny. he could pull off a few different characters. give him a crack, i cant see the Ventriloquist ever making it to the movies though.

@antz1104 and CorndogBurglar
Scarface or the Ventriloquist? They're two very different characters. I, for one, can't see Williams playing a mobster puppet.

ventriloquist is a good call. and to be perfectly honest, i never thought robin williams was ever that funny. just my opinion.
ManThing

love that guy. As loveable as he is he plays a HELLACIOUSly great villian.

I don't know about the whole tights crack though. The only superhero that wears tights in CBMs these day is Superman.

This aint crazy Timmy's Batman. All that is a thing of the past.
And it sure as hell aint Schitmaker's Batman either.

We take things a bit more seriously now.

I wouldn't give him the Riddler, but perhaps, the Penguin. I agree with SHO1138, when he goes dark, like in Insomnia or One hour photo. I think he would be perfect for it. The Penguin that is.

Deaddrool @ I meant the two as a pair. Yes the ventriloquist, even tho a pissed off muppet would be funny.

Pooch, seconded. I [frick]ing hate him. My mate put a stand up show of his on at a session a while back and after half an hour I was ready to take a drill to my temple. He's not a bad serious actor though I'll give him that.

Robin Williams in Chris Nolan's Insomnia

He is a decent enough actor although a lot of his recent movies (RV, License To Wed etc) have been truly awful. And despite the fact he'd make a great Ventriloquist, I dont see him fitting in with Nolan's vision, as I've said above, regardless of how good he is when he plays more serious roles.

ROR: Lol, I saw him on TV doing stand-up last year I think it was...it was worse than sitting through Superman Returns! ;D

I can't see him as Riddler. I think he'd make a decent Wesker. However, I can't see Wesker having a very big role in this. He wouldn't be the main villain, so I would imagine his role to be about as significant as Marone in TDK.

@shaman you are totally right, he's the perfect choice for the ventriloquist.

PS: Clive Owen for hush!

He jumps around doing lots of different voices that all sound the same, while being hairy. And seems to think thats comedy. Oh, hand on, I did think he was funny in The Fisher King!
