Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice, what to avoid and how to make thing more realistic.

How to make this movie work.

Well first of all, the fact that we are going to get a lot of characters in one movie is for sure. How not to make it crowded. Lets start of with Wonder Woman, what is her origin, how long has she been around. Is she a vigilante, is she operating in the shadows, what is her motivation to go out there and fight villains, what is she defending? Do not get me wrong, i want to see her in this movie, but her screen time needs to be limited perfectly. Show men her roots, make me believe that she can exist in this unverse, give her a good reason to fight alongside Batman and Superman. Personally i think that shed needs to have a 300 feel, slow punches, we need to feel them heavy, a lot of slow motion in her fighting and her persona to be misterious at first.

For Wonder Woman to work, i doubt that Amazonian aspect will work as well as it does in the comics.

it's clear that in a movie titled Batman V Superman the focus should be exactly on those two. Introduce Batman very heavy, Nolan movies are over so we now know nothing of this new version in that universe. Yes we know rumors that he is in his mid 40s, he has been around etc., one thing that we need to establish is what is his world? Do we have sidekicks, do we have a long history with villains already and do they exist in Gotham at the same time, what is the scope of this new Bat universe. I am ok with the idea of an armored Bat suit, since we have a Superman in this universe we definitelly need a leverage on the idea of an equal match between them.

One thing Batman clearly needs to be in this movie is, smart beyong Clark, a lot of experience in crime fighting, wisdom which might inspire a young Clark to become like a mentee of a sort. Superman has the strenght and the abilities, but does he have the knowledge to be more that hero, be a an instutution.

Batman clearly would know how the police works in a big corrupted city, he would know big corporations and their behaviour since he has access to them with Bruce Wayne and his connections.

If indeed the Flash is in the movie, i just want a tease of his powers, a glimpse of him in the costume and a direction where his character might go in JLA, dont go to deep and make the movie crowded.

Make the Flash cameo a power piece that would make QuickSilver look like a snail. I love other speedsters, but for me Flash has always been the Godfather of them all. I need DC to make a statement here, look guys compared to what this guy does you can all take a bow and sit down. When he accelerates give his punch a boost.

Also make sure that if Cyborg is in this movie, he is miles away from any Iron Man comparisons. We don't need that to turn into another, they stole that. What would come to my mind is a Robocop kind of feel and look, and similar drive in terms of how to deal with your life once you are transformed into this combination of robot and man. What does this man do from then on?

Lex Luthor needs to steel the show here, i belive that Jesse needs to go in multiple places and kill the versions we saw so far from the previous Superman movies for me to buy this. Ok he is a scientist and an inventor and a billionaire/politic. Great for that, however you are dealing with Clark, who can snap your neck with one finger holding out on his entire power. Jesse does not look intimidating so we need to rely on performance, this guy needs to have no boundaries and be truly messed up to top the game here. I am talking a mix between Ledger, Norton (Fight Club) and Spacey (Seven) are rolled in one and enhanced.

Lex needs to be basically more divious that Satan for me to feel his is a threat in this movie.

if Aquaman is making a cameo as well, let it be very brief and tie this to the world engine affecting the ocean. Show that this guy has powers beyond anything we have imagined. Momoa should be ok for the part. I trust him completely after Game of Thrones.

It is already established that so far we do not have kryptonite in this universe so far, well can we change that for something more realistic. In MOS Clark was weak in Krypton's environment and vunerable, what if Bruce has access to part of the Kryptonian ships from MOS and the World Engine and can simulate Kryptonian surroundings and environment. Once he shows Clark that even as a human he is willing to put this much effort in his battles, we might see the surender of Supes and his respect for Batman from then on.

introduce a hint of the villain for JLA and do not introduce all the members in BVSDOJ.

And not to many jokes, we do not want another Marvel movie, we have them already.

Any thoughts?

i think if cyborg appears he should be a civilian, show a cameo on a tele of him playing football then in a battle afterwards show him save someone then a building collapse on him. then at the end of the film or begining of justice league show a clip of him wakeing up to discover he is now a cyborg.

One question that definitely needs to be answered is why did Batman quit being Batman. That is the one and only criticism of the Nolan films that I bought into. They need to explain why he stopped being Batman otherwise right off the bat (pun intended) it raises issues about his character. Quite frankly the questions you raise are valid and the movie does not have enough time to adequately address them all in a meaningful way. For example it is one thing for Batman to tell Ras Al Ghul why he felt guilt for his parents death and another thing to show it as happened in Batman Begins. If they had just explained it without the flashbacks then it would not have had the emotional impact that it did. that is what has been sacrificed in order to make a vain attempt to catch up to Marvel.

Not a fan of the "Bruce mentoring Clark" idea.

Clark wasn't a kid in MoS, he was nearing his mid 30s. 33 to be exact. If the reports are true about BvS taking place 2 yrs after MoS, he'll be 35. Not much younger than Bruce - who might have been mentoring one of the Robins at 35.

Thats like me saying

"For Superman to work, i doubt that Kryptonian aspect will work as well as it does in the comics".

The Amazonian thing is not even close to an issue.

I think the Amazonian aspect is the most interesting, I think if they stick to Azerello's Wonder Woman then audiences will love her.

Also your comment on how Esienberg should pull from Norton in Fight Club made me realize how much I want to see Norton as Lex.

@justanerd
@metropolisman

I say stick to her mythology, with Zack setting it up, Im sure he will. Her background can work, it wont come off silly. All they have to do is take it seriously like they did with Superman in MoS. People think its "grounded in reality", no, he just did it in a serious manner.

WW's problem isn't the Amazonian schtick, a lost island that kept itself hidden from the world that has recently been revealed is a really simple concept and they don't need to dig too deep into how that works exactly just leave it at that for now.

WW's #1 problem is feminism. Its deeply ingrained into her origins as a character and an icon. She's far more tied to her real world roots than any comic book character and she was too big in that role to let that aspect go unnoticed. People are going to be judging her as a representative of 50% of the human race. Luke Cage can't be going around eating chicken legs with his bling out for the same reason either (we just don't call it feminism in his case).

And that leads us to problem #2, sexism, the other side of the coin. There is an absolute danger of over exposure and hype to WW being in the movie and then have her standing around having no influence on the plot and ending up being characterless eye candy.

She should NOT be a love interest, nor should she utter a line to the effect of: "what boys can do girls can do better". Snyder loves his sexy girls, oh yes he does. There are a million imaginable scenarios where its going to look bad. She needs to be strong and pretty without flaunting either aspect of it and the way Hollywood sexualizes everything could end up being a mess when dealing with WW.

Her costume already dances on that edge with high heels, thigh high boots with exposed thighs, drawing the eye to the crotch, strapless top, there's a lot of male gaze basis in that outfit that should not be there.

And yes, she could definately work but there are real issues that need to be dodged and there's absolutely a truth to WB's fears about the character and it has nothing to do with the audience not accepting Greek mythology.
