Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a PG-13 movie, but it certainly pushes the boundaries of that rating (hence why an R-Rated Ultimate Edition is on the way). While none of the characters drop an F-Bomb like Wolverine in the past couple of X-Men movies, we do get an "Oh sh*t!" from Batman when he comes face to face with Doomsday. However, it turns out that the line wasn't actually in the script. "I just improv’d that," Ben Affleck reveals in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "I had a feeling that it would work and that it would be funny,” the actor says. “I improvised and I talked to Zack about it and I think this will really work because you don’t expect it – and because it’s Batman, and at that moment he is so incredibly overmatched."
The actor continued by adding that a line like that humanises the character, later pointing out that he doesn't believe a little swearing will upset younger moviegoers. "We’ve taken these characters and are treating them more and more realistically. It seems very realistic that he would say that at that point. Any kid has heard their father say that if he’s trying to hammer a nail and hammers his thumb by accident. I think that, unfortunately, all kids are plenty exposed to that particular expression." Are you taking your kids to see Batman v Superman this weekend?
