COMICS: Marvel Takes A Not So Subtle Shot At BATMAN v SUPERMAN And The Whole "Martha!" Thing

Sick of jokes about Batman and Superman's mothers having the same name yet? Marvel clearly isn't based on the hard to miss shot they took at "Yawn of Boredom" in the latest issue of Spider-Man/Deadpool...

Scott Aukerman and Reilly Brown took over this month's issue of Spider-Man/Deadpool while regular creative team Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness had a break, and they didn't hesitate to get a little meta!

As you can see below (via Bleeding Cool), they didn't hold back when it came to taking a hard to miss shot at the divisive Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, poking fun at the title, the plot, and of course, that whole Martha thing. It is pretty funny to be fair, but also unecessary and a little petty on Marvel's part. Still, with huge hits like Captain America: Civil War, they can afford to be cocky!

To be fair though, neither Spider-Man nor the X-Men emerge unscathed as the comic pokes fun both at the fact that the wall-crawler has been rebooted multiple times and the divide between the Marvel Cinematic and X-Men Universes. Still, that Batman v Superman dig won't sit well with some fans...

This is funny and all in good fun. I even remember when Marvel did the same thing with Fan4stic, so this is another great one from Marvel.
