Could Lex Luthor and Lex Corp be the creators of Doomsday?

With a WB producer tweeting about Wonder Woman and Doomsday making an appearance in the untitled "Man of Steel" sequel, could Doomsday's origin be linked to General Zod?

Daniel Atler, a producer at WB recently tweeted that Wonder Woman and Doomsday would be making an appearance in the DC Cinematic Universe in the untitled Man of Steel sequel. After much thought, here is how I believe Doomsday could come to creation and shape the story in the much anticipated sequel. Remember this is speculation and nothing of what I mention is guaranteed to be in this movie.

How Lex Luthor could be responsible for Doomsday:

From what we know about Lex Luthor in the sequel is that he hates aliens and will often refer to Superman as an alien. After the events of Man of Steel, we could see Lex Corp and Wayne Enterprises footing the bill to help repair the damage Superman and General Zod have done to the city Lex has grown up in. Unhappy with how the government is handling the situation, Lex Luthor will make a political run by entering into the presidential race where he pledges to eliminate the alien at all costs. Gaining the support of billions because of Superman's recklessness, posing the question to the country, "What if a man of Superman's power turns on the public? What defense do we have?".

There are 2 important things to keep in mind when dealing with the clean up of Metropolis: General Zod's Armour and his body. Most likely, these will find there way into the hands of the government. If Lex Luthor becomes president of the United States he will get to decide what they do with the remains. The look of General Zod probably makes Luthor sick, in which he opts to destroy the body, but puts his leading scientists under contract at Lex Corp to engineer Zod's armor into the ultimate Superman fighting machine. He's so drunk on power at this point, he wants to eliminate Superman himself. He's willing to go into his own machine and risk his life for his country because that's what he believes is right.

Lex demands the destruction of General Zod's body. Given that General Zod is a Kryptonian alien, this isn't an easy task. They need to invent new technology to destroy the body. Trying over and over again to dispose of it. Heat, Radiation, chemicals, etc. nothing seems to work. In fact, it's getting harder. But they continue trying, over and over again, exhausting all resources. Until one attempt something extremely wrong happens... General Zod wakes up as Doomsday.

I believe the creation of Doomsday will be more of a subplot, setting up Doomsday as the main villain for a future movie, maybe the first Justice League. This would also set up an interesting Lex Luthor character for future movies who, in the eyes of the public, will be the creator of Doomsday.

This is my speculation given the current rumors and news regarding this movie. I have a few more ideas as to how Doomsday may come to be and how other characters like Mercy Graves may come into the picture but I could write another article on that. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below!

I don't know. Can critics take another movie where Superman and ______ level Metropolis?

@Tainted87 Who's stay say they level Metropolis? The creation of Doomsday could happen in Metropolis but that doesn't mean the movie HAS to take place there.

@DoubleD
I was being more or less sarcastic, although seriously - you can't have Doomsday and Superman fight without wrecking a whole city.

@Tainted87

Dc's character's are so SUPER, I would almost expect a wreckage of huge magnitude in every movie.

He doesn't just wake up as Doomsday, it's through the series of insanely harsh experiments they did on his dead body that would cause him to eventually turn into Doomsday. Maybe he slowly gets stronger over time because now they have to figure out how to kill him again but instead each time actually makes him more resistant to that particular experiment, so they will have to start over again.

That's pretty close to how he was made in the comics but he was made in pre-historic Krypton.

Bold...very bold, but I think it could work!

Surprisingly, I don't hate this idea. Good Job.

I have yet to read Death and Return of Superman but why doesn't he just throw Doomsday into the sun since he will probably survive somehow. Even that's to extreme he could just leave him in space where he can't go anywhere since he can't fly and there's no ground for him to move in or to get propulsion from.

@Alphadog

That's a pretty good idea. If he can get him there I would say that's probably the easiest way to deal with him.

Great editorial but i would prefer if Lex Luthor or Luthorcorp where to discover Doomsday by accident perhaps if the company was mining some place else.

If im not mistaken.. dosent supermans body store energy (from the sun) and recharge him? Wouldent the same thing work with Zod? I mean say they are just blasting him with radiation. I get it. Its far fetched and I don't think it will happen but its a very comic idea and I like it. Well done.

Well he could use the bodies and attempt some sort of Kryptonian/animal hybrid as a test to merge the genetic structures to go on to create super soldiers....could hint his Cyborgs are proving less than effective

I suppose so. They can't really do it the way it was done in the comics because Doomsday's origin in the comics is totally ridiculous and convoluted.

Lex creating him would be the best way to go. He could be trying to make some kind of cloned super-kryptonian and end up creating a giant rage monster....kind of like how he created Bizarro originally back in the day.

@ Tainted

Actually, in Death of Superman, 90% of the fight between Supes and Doomsday happened out in the rural country and then eventually led to Metropolis at the end.

I see no reason why they couldn't do this. They could even say something along the lines of Superman learned from his fight with Zod and lures Doomsday out into the country to preserve cities and lives.

i like it my friend, i like it.

For some reason i feel like all the easter eggs we've seen (snaps of the bluray menu) lead me to believe lex luthor is already in possession doomsday's body.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't doomsday the product of generations of cloning and forced evolution? i think that ties in really well with all of the genetic coding krypton was doing. so it's set up perfect for that outpost that eventually becomes the fortress to be the capsule that they sent doomsday away in. with a crew (kara as one of the members) to dispose of him or lock him away. years ago a lexcorp team stumbled upon the body and took it back with them. that'd be a great back story for a movie.

however... i also want brainiac, and all the superman rogues shouldn't be the left over problem children of krypton. That's where i really like your idea of Doomsday being a modified clone of Zod. it would give him a reason for all of that deep seeded hatred he has for superman while adding an extra layer to his origin. so if they can figure out a way to clone zod's body, train the clones to hunt and kill, clone and modify those clones and so on and so forth, add in the evolutionary aspects of retaining the previous incarnation's instincts and patterns until you end up at doomsday then i think that would be really cool! it would also add to lex's villainy.

you're bouncing some good ideas around, dy.

I hate when people complain about man of steel damage then talk about how superman would never let that happen to metropolis. I be like have you ever read a comic. This happens all the time. Talking about some I know because I read the comics. No you don't. I hate that because if superman fights doomsday the level of destruction and action should be way more. But because of people complaints watch them tone the fights down significantly. I don't wana see that. I want to see superpowered people fight. That's why I see these movies
