Wonder Woman 1984 star Gal Gadot has always given Zack Snyder credit for reigniting her career by casting her as the DC Comics heroine in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the actress has now taken to Instagram to thank the filmmaker for "believing that I could bring Diana to life" at a time when she had become disillusioned with Hollywood and was thinking about quitting.
Gadot also shared a stunning black-and-white photo from Monday's Vanity Fair piece, which Snyder took during her very first camera test with Ben Affleck.
"This photo was taken by Zack Snyder on the day I did the camera test for Batman vs Superman with Ben," said Gadot. "I came to LA for 30 hours while shooting a movie in Tel Aviv. But I wanted the role of Wonder Woman so much that it was worth the trip. I’ll forever be grateful to Zack for casting me and believing that I could bring Diana to life. I had no idea what the future would hold back when this picture was taken - seeing it makes me very nostalgic. It's also proof that everything happens for a reason. I was on the verge of giving up acting... and then this happened."
Gadot would go on to play Diana in two Wonder Woman movies and Justice League, and while the recent WW84 was not particularly well received, we will get to see what she and Snyder originally envisioned for the character when his director's cut of Justice League is released on HBO Max next month.
