A rift between Marvel and Fox means we won't be getting Fantastic Four action figures this year, and toys for Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse will also be conspicuous by their absence in 2016.

There will however be plenty of merchandise available for movies like Ant-Man, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Captain America: Civil War, and we can now add Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to that list. As you can see from the press release below, JAKKS will be releasing all manner of toys for Zack Snyder's movie, and it sounds like there will be something for everyone next March. Are you looking forward to pitting toy versions of Batman and Superman against each other?

JAKKS Pacific announced a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to manufacture, distribute and market a line of toys and products based on Warner Bros. Pictures’ and RatPac Dune Entertainment’s highly anticipated feature film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. The film, which pairs the two Super Heroes for the first time on the big screen, is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman.

The agreement, which covers the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film, also includes a domestic and international renewal for the full DC Comics franchise. The multi-category license includes large-scale action figures and vehicles, accessories, games, wagons and more. JAKKS plans to launch its Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice product line in Spring 2016 to coincide with the film’s worldwide theatrical release. New DC Comics product lines will also be available at retailers in Fall 2015.

“We could not be more excited to be part of the eagerly awaited Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice franchise and welcome the opportunity to bring to life two of the most epic Super Heroes of all time,” said John Blaney, Executive Vice President of Marketing, JAKKS Pacific. “We look forward to continuing our legacy of creating innovative and character-specific toys for the DC Comics line, especially in our highly detailed and collectible Big Figures line.”

“JAKKS consistently brings a larger than life statement to the toy aisle and we look forward to expanding our existing DC Comics offerings and building upon this partnership by bringing the epic Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to life with an all-new Big Figures line,” says Karen McTier, executive vice president, Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

Pay close attention to what this press release says. Jakks are likely not the main action figure company for the movie. It very specifically says large-scale action figures. Mattel (or whoever has the license now) will probably be responsible for the 6" and/or 3 3/4" figures and Jakks will have the 12" figures and whatever other peripherals they come up with.
