Overall, Wonder Man is a well-known and well-loved superhero in the Marvel Comics universe. Created by Stan Lee and Don Heck in 1964, he has had a long and varied career as a member of the Avengers and as a standalone character. His impact on other Marvel heroes, such as Scarlet Witch, cannot be overstated, and his legacy in the comics continues to this day.
Wonder Man first appeared in Avengers #9, published in October 1964. Simon Williams, the alter ego of Wonder Man, was a wealthy industrialist who turned to a life of crime when his company was on the brink of bankruptcy. He was hired by Baron Zemo to infiltrate the Avengers, but eventually turned against Zemo and joined the team himself.
As Wonder Man, Simon possessed superhuman strength, speed, endurance, and agility, as well as the ability to project ionic energy from his body. He became a vital part in the creation of another Marvel hero, Scarlet Witch, and his impact on her character would last for decades to come.
After initially dying in battle, Wonder Man was later revived by the villainous organization known as the Masters of Evil. Once he fully regained his strength and powers, he rejoined the Avengers, embarking on a decades-long career as a superhero and fighting major foes such as Ultron and Count Nefaria.
