BIRDS OF PREY Actor Dana Lee Reveals The Unexpected Connection Between His Character And Harley Quinn

While Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will obviously put the spotlight on several notable characters, including the titular super-team and the villain Black Mask, it will also feature some personalities that even comic book fans don’t know.

One of these fresh faces set to appear in Birds of Prey is the character played by Dana Lee (Dr. Ken). However, thanks to a new interview with the Curb Your Enthusiasm, actor we have some new details on his role and his ties to Harley Quinn and The Joker.

“I play a character named Doc," Lee explained during an interview with Your Entertainment Corner. "I own this little restaurant and my residence is above there. Every time Harley Quinn gets in trouble with the Joker, she would come and stay with me. And I’m like her — like she says in the story — I'm her Taiwanese grandfather she never had.”

Although it’s unclear how large of a role Doc will have in the film, it sounds as if he may play a key part in Harley Quinn’s story, as set photos seemingly confirmed a split between Margot Robbie's character and the Clown Prince of Crime.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), which also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Rosie Perez, is set to hit theaters on February 7, 2020.

Like all of them.

But why is Harley in this and where is Batgirl? What's the point of calling this Birds of Prey?

@HopeVanDAUMNN - My prevailing theory is that WB execs have a betting pool amongst themselves and it's based on a sliding scale of how much they can change the source material vs how much profit they can make.

Off-topic: Marvel will bring back Agents of SHIELD to Comic Con at Hall H. (Seems it is the first time ever they have the panel for themselves)

In keeping with DC's endless effort to copy other comic book movies I think this will be a "Blind Al" clone!

Nothing about this movie has me even hopeful it will be good. God I hope I'm wrong though.

@Forthas - Merlin and Galahad.

@MexCowboyNation - When I wrote old, I meant OLD. Both are not what I would consider "old" and I am not sure I would consider them as "wise" They are more of a resource to Eggsy - in other words they TRAIN him as opposed to guide his decisions after the fact.

Not the same!

@Forthas - I mean, I get you. But if you really want to write it out in such a simple list format? I can make Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and The Matrix all look like the same movie really, really fast.
Forthas
Forthas - 7/1/2019, 6:24 PM
@OptionFour - None of those films would meet the requirements...

Lord of the Rings
Not Rated R, Not a comedy...

Star Wars
Not Rated R, Not a comedy...

The Matrix
Not a comedy...

...and none of them (I think) were released in February.

So I was pretty specific!

@Forthas - You missed my point almost completely. My point is that its reductionist. Its not the specific list, but that if you want to reduce things that far, its easy to make everything look the same. That doesn't mean it is.

I hope this fails miserably and they scrap every ounce from that corner of the DC movie universe. The only shame would be them wasting MEW and Ewan McGregor on this

@Battabing - I've heard that BS about test screenings before. I highly doubt their validity or the validity of the reports unless the test screenings were comprised of teenage girls on summer vacation.

To say that WB/DC make strange and ill- advised decisions about the adaptations of their intellectual properties would be an understatement.

All the scoopers are cumming over this movie, so I guess we should stop paying attention to their opinions on test screenings.

@tmp3 - I saw one this morning from Alan Richtman

"I hear Black Mask in Birds of Prey is "A great, GREAT villain. The best in the DCEU so far and one of the best villains in a superhero movie ever" so that's good!"

All credibility goes out the door when your first 2 words are "I hear"
