With Black Adam pushed from July to October, we're probably going to be waiting a little bit longer for that first trailer. However, with the movie now being released just a couple of months before Shazam! Fury of the Gods, we're anticipating some sort of crossover between the two DC Comics projects.
Black Adam's big bad, Sabbac, is typically a Shazam villain. Capable of accessing the powers of Hell, when Sabbac says his name, he's granted the abilities of Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Crateis. In the comic books, Freddy Freeman's former foster-brother Timothy Karnes and New York City mob boss Ishmael Gregor have held the mantle, though Aladdin star Marwan Kenzari is expected to take on the role in this upcoming blockbuster.
We get a first look at the villain in Funko Pop form below, along with the members of the DCEU's Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone. There will also be two versions of the title character; one taking flight, and the other showcasing Black Adam's amazing abilities.
Hopefully, we'll have much more to share with you about this one soon. At CinemaCon, new footage from Black Adam was shown to those in attendance, and the response was very good. It wouldn't be a bad idea for Warner Bros. to drop a trailer in time for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, especially given the similarities between Strange and Dr. Fate!
Black Adam arrives in theaters on October 21, 2022.
