With news breaking on bleedingcool.com that movie director Ava Duvenay has caught the attention of Marvel Studios to direct 'The Black Panther' movie, I went searching for proof. Here is the article that I found.
Yesterday, the Wrap reported that Marvel were in talks with Selma director Ava Duvenay to direct an upcoming movie, one of their “diverse” superhero movies, naming either Captain Marvel or Black Panther.
I’ve just had it confirmed from one of our production sources that it would indeed be Black Panther, lined up for 2017.
With scenes of Wakanda, vibranium and Ulysses Klaw in the recent Avengers: Age Of Ultron movie, the film will star Chadwick Boseman, who will appear in the role first in Captain America: Civil War.
The 43 year old movie director out of California gained national attention with her brilliant depiction of Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights struggle in the award winning movie 'Selma'. Duvenay is a very respected director by her peers and colleagues, many of which rave over her writing ability and vision as a director. Duvenay is a very proud and deep person who is also stern in her beliefs and stands behind her ideas. Many believe that a much more experienced director with a bigger name would have been better suited to direct 'Selma' and boy were they wrong. It is this kind of self belief that makes Marvel confident that Duvenay would be an excellent choice for the 'Black Panther' movie played by Chadwick Boseman. I believe the pursuit of Duvenay shows that Marvel must want the 'Black Panther' movie to be nothing short of powerful and groundbreaking for it's first black lead superhero.
T'Challa is the Black Panther, King of Wakanda with riches beyond your wildest dreams. He's an Avenger, a superhero, and the leader of his own nation. This should be a small task for the person responsible for successfully bringing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the big screen for the first time, and did so with much grace. With all the top notch luxuries (writers, big budgets, special effects team, etc.) Marvel Studios can offer a director, and you mix that with Duvenay's vision, and Chadwick Boseman's talent, you have all of the ingredients to make one hell of a movie, making Black Panther a force to be reckoned with in the Marvel Movie Universe.
(please pardon the lettering in some of the article I have no clue how and why some of the letters were coming out connected)
