BLACK PANTHER: Andy Serkis On What Klaw's Been Up To Since AGE OF ULTRON
When we last saw Andy Serkis' Ulysses Klaue, aka Klaw, Ultron had just subtracted a limb from the arms dealer, but Black Panther TV spots and trailers reveal that the Marvel villain has been very busy.
With the same amount of time that passes in the real world equal to the time that elapses between Marvel films, it will have been three years since Andy Serkis's Klaw played a small role in Avengers: Age of Ultron. His appearance was clearly a setup for larger things to come and that payoff comes due in Marvel Studios' Black Panther, which hits theaters in February.
Collider recently caught up with the actor to talk about what Klaw has been up to in the MCU since fans last saw him and how his character has managed to elude capture by The Avengers and other various law enforcement agencies. Said Serkis--
"Well he’s just basically been causing mayhem in the world, on minor and major levels. He’s a smart guy in the sense that he’s a businessman as well as an arms dealer. He manages to cover his tracks. He has a mercenary army that works with him in different locations all around the world and he’s able to go down rabbit holes and appear in other places. He’s got the smarts, but he’s also a little whacked out."
Serkis further elaborated on Klaw's hinted-at connection and past dealings with Wakanda. As shown in the TV spots, the mercenary will peel back the many hidden layers of the advanced African society.
"He’s got a very specific relationship to Wakanda. He’s got a bit of a love/hate relationship with it, really. He certainly has discovered things about it that nobody else has, and we discover that in this movie. He’s one of the few people who’s been into Wakanda and he reveals quite a lot about it."
Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, 2018, in North America.
