Black Panther is a movie which it seems is crammed full of references to the comic books and it sounds like Wakanda is going to be very rich in terms of nods to the source material and cameos from characters associated with T'Challa's world. Now, director Ryan Coogler has revealed that he wanted one more villain in the movie but it's someone who Marvel Studios couldn't actually let him use!
"Being a Marvel fan, you want to grab all the characters," the filmmaker says in the video below. "You realise there’s contractual things. You don’t have that character. There was a Christopher Priest run that was pretty heavy, there’s a big scene where Panther’s fighting Kraven, Kraven the Hunter."
That would have been amazing to see but Sony is reportedly planning a solo movie for the character which could explain why Coogler couldn't use him even though Spider-Man is now in the MCU. "I’ve always loved Kraven the Hunter in almost every iteration. So there was a moment – ‘Can I grab Kraven?’ – and they were ‘Nah, you don’t have Kraven.’ He was one where I thought ‘Oh, man.’ But I don’t even know if he would have worked in the movie we ended up with, this was the early days."
