Tickets for Marvel's Black Panther are pre-selling at an incredible rate, outpacing the presales for any previous MCU movie, and any superhero movie from 2017. With the movie projected to become a massive hit, the popular Texas-based theatre chain Alamo Drafthouse is encouraging Black Panther fans to give back.

When purchasing movie tickets on the Alamo Drafthouse website, patrons have the option to make a contribution to their Black Panther Charity Donation program. The request states:

"We've been inspired by King T'Challa and the awesome people taking the #BlackPantherChallenge. Join us and donate to help a local community group in your area."

The Black Panther Challenge is an initiative that aims to give kids from low-income families a chance to see the movie. While the initiative was started by Frederick Joseph in New York, it has spread across the United States.
Fans who buy tickets on the Drafthouse website have the option of making a donation of $1, $3 or $5—money that will be given to a community group in the donor's area.

With the film projected to land in the $120 million range in its opening weekend, there are definitely a ton of potential donors to this cause.

Hearing all the good this movie has inspired in people really washes over the bad taste of people hating on the movie. Especially all those arrogant people on twitter back-lashing against the hype because "black people should be spending their money elsewhere"

@Deonox - Are people actually saying that? I'm glad I don't follow anyone like that on Twitter anyway.

@RorMachine - Why don't you follow me on Twitter, though, Ror?

Is it that I'm still doing duckfaces in my selfies like it's still 2014?

Saw it today, and it really is awesome. The praise is a BIT much (it's not the best Marvel movie.. or even the best standalone) but it'shard to fault.

How was the CGI?

Concept is fine, execution is troublesome - what about charities for physically disabled? elderly? those with mental disabilities? Will they never get the focus because they dont have a Superhero movie.

• Wonder Woman comes out and they use it to promote charities that support females
• Black Panther comes out and they use it to promote charities that support low-income 'black youth'

@Scarilian - Are you serious? How about instead of complaining about what these films are or aren't doing (which makes 100% sense why those films are supporting those particular efforts), donate your own money to these charities you think don't get enough focus.

Jesus. Why can't people just be happy for once? Always something to complain about.

@Scarilian - So go out and donate to those other charities then. Nobody is stopping you since you are so well informed and the general public is not.

@Scarilian - It would be great to see this idea applied to different groups, even the less obvious ones. After all, there are lots of superheroes with various disabilities, like Daredevil, Oracle, Professor X, Iron Man (sort of)
