You may remember Stephen Dorff from his villainous turn in the original Blade movie, and despite starring in some noteworthy projects since then (HBO's True Detective, for example), he's never really had a huge blockbuster role. It seems he's not particularly interested in one, either, which became evident during a recent interview with The Independent.
Talking about the types of projects that appeal to him, Dorff unexpectedly took aim at Black Widow as the sort of movie he has no interest in joining.
"I still hunt out the good s**t because I don’t want to be in Black Widow. It looks like garbage to me. It looks like a bad video game. I’m embarrassed for those people," the actor exclaimed.
"I’m embarrassed for Scarlett! I’m sure she got paid five, seven million bucks, but I’m embarrassed for her. I don’t want to be in those movies. I really don’t," Dorff continued. "I’ll find that kid director that’s gonna be the next Kubrick and I’ll act for him instead."
Considering Johansson has been playing Natasha Romanoff since 2010, something tells us she has no regrets about Black Widow, especially when it's sitting pretty on Rotten Tomatoes with a "Certifed Fresh" 82%. Regardless, it's unclear whether Dorff has an issue with superhero movies in general or if this Phase 4 release was just a good example of a recent CGI-heavy blockbuster that he wants nothing to do with as he moves forward in his career.
Despite the brief time he spent in the Marvel Universe, chances are Dorff won't be looking to return to a big budget franchise like that any time soon, especially after these comments about Black Widow!
