Is A BLACK WIDOW Movie Happening? Scarlett Johansson And Kevin Feige Have Discussed It

When Collider caught up with Scarlett Johansson to discuss Avengers: Age of Ultron, they asked the actress about the chances of a solo movie for Black Widow. While it doesn't sound like we'll be getting one for a little while, it has been discussed! "I’ve spoken to Kevin about it," she revealed. "I mean, of course, of course we’ve had that conversation before, and I think Kevin would also like to see a standalone film. I think I can speak for him and say that. That’s all, really. Right now I think this character is used well in this part of the universe, but I think that Kevin—I mean, we’ve talked about it and we both share similar vision for what could be a standalone series." Johansson has already shown she can carry a successful movie by herself with Lucy, and is confident that Black Widow could work too if given a chance. "I think that there’s room for a standalone movie. The character has a really rich origin story and I’ve been really fortunate to kind of place all these layers on top of one another and kind of build up this character to this point where I think I can now start to peel them away and reveal different sides of her and really focus on—I think I’ve been able to grow with the character, the character’s been able to grow with me."

The actress then went on to confirm that her contract has changed since being added to the Captain America franchise and that it continues to evolve based on demand from fans to see more of Black Widow. Johansson won't be going anywhere soon regardless, as she had this to say about her continued involvement with Marvel. "It’s been a very good relationship back and forth and I think Marvel—the one thing about working with them is they don’t want anybody to work on the movie that doesn’t want to be there, obviously. So whatever you’re contracted to should not feel like golden handcuffs, and they don’t want that either… I will certainly be around and that’s because it’s been such a great response. I mean, I’m always happy to put the cat suit back on, for sure." Would you guys like to see a Black Widow movie? Share your thoughts in the usual place!

Can't say I'd be excited for this movie, but then again, we were all pleasantly surprised by Agent Carter.

A Black Widow movie? NOPE!
I prefer a Agents Of SHIELD movie with Black Widow and Hawkeye (With a Mockingbird too, who knows? And a Deathlok with a decent uniform maybe?). Would give a boost in the TV series and would make a movie for these two Avengers.

It could work but she'll need a main counterpart for the dudebros to relate with. I know scarjo can carry a movie after Lucy

Shes's great as a supporting character but I dont think she should get her own movie, at least for now. There are way too many things to focus on right now.

Black Widow should have a Netflix series and Iron Fist should have a trilogy of movies.

Now that I think about it I'd rather not have a Black Widow movie. I mean Scarlett is fine in the role and all, but I don't think her Black Widow can carry an entire movie. Let's just leave her alone and let Captain Marvel be the MCU's premiere female superhero.
