BLACK ADAM Reportedly Courting THE SHALLOWS & JUNGLE CRUISE Director Jaume Collet-Serra

Following the success of Shazam!, Warner Bros. & New Line seem keen on expanding the universe with Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam, and it sounds they may have found a director in Jaume Collet-Serra.

Observer is reporting that Warner Bros. and New Line are in advanced negotiations with Jaume Collet-Serra to direct their upcoming superhero movie, Black Adam, which will star Dwayne Johnson (Hobbs & Shaw) in the title role.
 
Variety has since corroborated the initial report and have added that the film is currently a priority for both studios following the success of David F. Sandberg's Shazam!, which starred Zachary Levi (Chuck) in the lead role. They're also very bullish on finally bringing The Rock into the world of superhero movies, as they assume his involvement will be a huge box office draw for fans.

According to the report, Black Adam was originally supposed to debut in Shazam!, but the producers decided against it prior to filming and opted instead to introduce the two characters in separate solo films before bringing them together. 

Collet-Serra is best known for helming a number of Liam Neeson-led actioners, including Non-Stop, Run All Night, and The Commuter. He also directed Blake Lively (A Simple Favor) in The Shallows and recently completed Disney's Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) - the latter putting him on WB's radar.

This movie is in such an odd spot for me. I think Black Adam is a cool character but I cannot see Dwayne Johnson doing the role any justice, and it seems as if this movie is more about him as a celebrity than a character.

i'm only looking forward to seeing Dwayne's work-out for Black-adam cause i couldn't finish his Hercules one ........... too much Cod :( he's machine eating that much food smh

@knocturnalzen10 - I tried one of those work-out routines that Dwayne Johnson published and the diet was so much it made me feel sick. That's the worst part of a clean bulk, having to eat so [frick]ing much.

@tmp3 - yea man , i'm in very decent shape and i work-out 4-5 times a wk depending but his pump was insane .... and the food portions made me feel like after 2 weeks , Richard Simmons would come to place to have an intervention :(.

@knocturnalzen10 - Yeah, I've been trying for a while to go down to single digit body fat but my diet during cutting seasons is always too low so I end up losing mass that I have to make up for while bulking. And bulking just sucks, it's always the same brown rice and broccoli and boiled chicken every day haha

@tmp3 - oh you're bugging my good sir. i'm at like 17%-18% last i checked , you're trying to get to Bruce Lee levels ..... that's nothing BUT eating clean all the time lol depending you body type you may have to have 50/50 just broccoli and chicken both grilled :( i don't wish that upon you tho

@knocturnalzen10 - Yeah haha, I've gone like a year+ without soda so far too, but eventually you get used to it. I haven't gone below 12% though, and I'm at 13% now.

@tmp3 - you're the same as one of my co-workers he's cut to pieces at this time and he wants to go single digits ... i'm like you might as well smoke crack then ..... because per his frame he has to cut out a lot of things like starch ....i know Bruce was heavy on fruits as well if that helps you , mainly apples . it's less sugar comparable to some of the other fruits.

He said no to Twoicide Squad to do Jungle Cruise, and I'm assuming Dwayne loved working on that so much that he got him to sign onto this.
I hope we get some Shazam! 2 news soon too.

@MrCamw1 - Yeah, I hear that's meant to be quite solid. It got him on WB's radar to direct Suicide Squad 2 iirc, and was also the reason he got an offer to do Jungle Cruise for Disney

@tmp3 - I saw it twice in theatres so it has my approval but I might be in a minority (,plus the second time I was with two girls at the time I thought I'd have a chance with do to the two to 1 odds. Didnt work out the way I wanted though lol)

Really enjoyed Shazam and am looking forward to seeing what Dwayne Johnson does with Black Adam.
His films have been a bit hit and miss for me for the last few years.
Would love to see him do another role like Faster which was a lean mean action movie
