RUMOR MILL: BLACK PANTHER 2 Will Introduce The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Version Of Doctor Doom

Ryan Coogler is in the middle of rewriting Black Panther 2, and a new rumor suggests that the sequel will finally bring iconic Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom into the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

In "Rumor Mill," we share the hard to buy rumours that don't come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.

Ryan Coogler is rewriting Black Panther 2 after the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman last year, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed that T'Challa will not be recast or replaced with a VFX stand-in. The character will, sadly, have to be written out of the MCU somehow, though.

Despite the original Black Panther's absence, it seems Marvel Studios has big plans for the sequel.

FandomWire is reporting that Doctor Doom will make his MCU debut in Black Panther 2, with the idea being that the ruler of Latveria is going to become a Thanos-level threat over time. His role in this film is said to be a small one, as Victor Von Doom pulls the strings from the shadows (likely meaning we're going to get a loose adaptation of the Doomwar storyline).

The site adds that Doom will eventually cross paths with the Fantastic Four, but there's more to Victor than just being Reed Richards' greatest foe.

While he blames Reed for his scarred visage, that happened during their college days. There's no reason Doom couldn't have spent the decades since then ruling over his home nation of Latveria before attempting to take advantage of a weakened Wakanda in T'Challa's absence. That certainly makes way more sense than the way the villain has previously been portrayed on screen.

@Origame - personally, I’m still waiting on the announcement of legendary actor, Oscar Nominee, Paul Giamatti as the 2014 infamous underrated villain, the Rhino.

Not sure how the movie is gonna work without Black Panther himself unless they rename the movie Wakanda, Wakanda Chronicles, Stories of Wakanda or something.

I'd prefer if they had Namor as the villain in BP2, but teasing Doom behind the scenes pulling the strings could be a great way to set him up as a big bad.

@ChrisRed - I don’t and never will like the stupid idea of pasting a deceased actors face onto another performers body.

However, with the legacy Chadwick created with Black Panther, how the media reactions of his death flooded the internet, and fans alike were shocked by his death - and what this meant for Black Panther.

I think this is the rare occasion, where adding his face is a respectable necessity in order to finish his legacy. Respectfully kill the character off, use archive footage and CGI shots to edit and create what you can. I think his family would approve of Black Panther truly being his last ever role, even without him - to commemorate his memory, and solidify his legacy.

If T'Challa is gone in the film, then i kind of like the idea that Doom tries to take Wakanda. But geographically, with Latveria supposedly in Europe, it would be a little strange.

@TheManWithoutFear - A European nation trying to seize control of and plunder an African country's resources? That sounds very fitting.
