INFINITY WAR Star Pom Klementieff Believes Marvel Is Developing A BLACK WIDOW Film & A Female Team-Up Movie

There has been a lot of buzz around the possibility of a Black Widow film and a team-up film for the women of the MCU, and now Avengers: Infinity War's Pom Klementieff says both movies are being developed.

In a matter of days, Marvel will be treating fans to their biggest team-up film thus far with the release of Avengers: Infinity War. However, there are still some fans hoping to see a different collection of heroes unite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future.

This excitement has been around ever since it was revealed that Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok) and some of the other female stars from the MCU spoke to Kevin Feige about a film which would focus on an all-female team, many fans have been eagerly waiting to learn more.

Yet, since then, there has been little word on whether an all-female film would be happening. Though, plenty of people involved in the MCU have expressed their interest in seeing the film become a reality.

And during a recent interview with Purebreak, Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) was asked about the prospect of team-up movie with Marvel’s female heroes. The interview with the Avengers: Infinity War actress was conducted in French, but after a quick translation its seems the star may have revealed a female led team-up film is more than just an idea discussed between the actresses and Kevin Feige:

“We spoke with Kevin Feige, and he thought it was a good idea. I think they are developing it right now.”

Now, we shouldn’t take this as absolute confirmation that an all-female Marvel movie is actively in development, but it’s more than possible the Infinity War star is privy to information.

Aside from the team-up film, Klementieff also briefly commented on the possibility of a Black Widow film, which has seemed like a strong possibility since this January. Like some recent comments from Joe Russo, the actress didn’t say much but she did say “[Marvel] are also developing a Black Widow movie by the way” and that she hopes “to participate” in the film.

I love Pom and the rest of the MCU ladies, but I'm so opposed to this all-female team up thing. Give 'em solos. Have them appear in each other's films like Falcon did in Ant-man or Hulk did in Thor, but don't do a Femvengers. Please.

What, no Lady Liberators?

@Nebula - Firstly, all my fav MCU characters are women and I would be first in line for an all female film.

But I need a good reason in universe as to why they are all women.

I can accept a small team of 4 (nebula, Okoye, Widow and Gamroa fly off together), but to have the most/all the MCU women in a single film. I need a reason as to why the men aren't there.

The only think I can think of is that they make Enchantress the villan. Thus, the men would be seduced.

Also the Valkriye actress seemed to be the one that was really campaigning for this, so it would make even more sense to make her the "main character" and give her a history wiht the Enchantress.

@StormXmen123 - Yeah, I'd definitely check it out and obviously it's gotta make sense, but also I'm just like; Just make a movie and tell a good story. I don't like when film's try to ride a movement or something.

It's like that Incredibles 2 post I made the other day (https://www.comicbookmovie.com/animated_features/the_incredibles/the-incredibles-2-director-brad-bird-admits-that-the-films-connection-to-the-metoo-movement-is-coincidental-a159792).

I've also got a hunch that DC are just going to ride off whatever's "topical" now since Wonder Woman was that, and was their only success. And now they're pushing Birds of Prey and Batgirl and all that.

No one wants an all female superhero film.

Look at FemBusters and Oceans 8 as reference.

So very excited for the Black Widow solo movie.

I’m completely down for a Lady Liberators type movie but in all honesty I’d be much more excited for more female solo movies like a Scarlet Witch solo movie or a Spectrum solo movie.

Off-topic: found a Black Panther showtime at my closest theater (which is kinda surprising since movies usually stop showing there after a month and a half). Pretty damn late, but I can make it. Just gotta get through Homecoming and Ragnarok first.

I think all of this is misdirection. Marvel have given us all a reason to trust them so if it's true I'm watching but with the secrecy surround infinity wars I just don't think they'd be talking about this so liberally.

Even Benedict Cumberbatch has been saying if doctor strange makes it and feige has pretty much not talked about most movies after this phase so it's a little weird everyone is going out of their way to say something about this.

@MyCoolYoung - I just think it’s the reality of the situation. They had to hire a screenwriter before Infinity War, they are going to have to hire a director before Avengers 4, there’s just no way to really hide a big production that needs to be well into pre-production to make the July 2020 release date, no matter the project is, so they can only be so secret about it,
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 4/21/2018, 4:31 PM
@TheUnworthyThor - but isn't that spot reserved for Spiderman? Then you also have guardians vol 3. You have enough confirmed sequels to not talk about widow.
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 4/21/2018, 4:41 PM
@MyCoolYoung - No, Spider-man is July 2019. At the moment it’s presumed that the May 2020 movie is GotG Vol 3 and July 2020. And no it’s really not realistic, regardless if that July 2020 film is Black Widow or not, to get a movie of that size made in secret. Cast and crew have to be booked. Sets built. Locations scouted. Hence why the news of the screenwriter getting hired came out in immediately.

TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 4/21/2018, 6:08 PM
@MyCoolYoung - I believe Doctor Strange 2 will be the third Marvel of 2020 which comes out in November, the same month the first one came out in. And I bet with the huge overwhelming success of Black Panther that Black Panther 2 could be viewed and set up as a potential big May release.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 4/21/2018, 6:21 PM
@TheUnworthyThor - indeed. I'm not refuting what you said I'm just trying to give reasons for how this could be misdirection.

I'm not against a black widow movie.

@JoeMomma29 -
Overtime my interest in a Black Widow has changed quite a bit;

- Before Avengers i was fine with her not having a solo movie, it was not needed.
- After Avengers, the prospect of a prequel Hawkeye & Black Widow movie made sense - but they did nothing with it
- After Winter Soldier, i thought they might end up doing a prequel, but once again nothing
- After Age Of Ultron, i lost interest as the character stopped being as well written. Since then nothing has really sparked my interest in the character.

I think the time has passed where a Black Widow movie made sense to be made - i'd rather see newer characters getting solo movies.

@TheUnworthyThor -
Trouble is, Marvel is running out of characters that could honestly be adapted into solo movies. They've adapted a majority of them outside of the ones they do not have access to in the X-Men and Fantastic Four OR those that they wasted in the unsuccesful attempt to adapt Inhumans.

Black Cat, Silver Sable, White Tiger, Quasar, Spider-woman, Squirrel Girl all could easily hold a solo movie - Sony has most of them and the rest are more suited to Netflix or being adapted on another form such as Cloak & Dagger.

The main one i'm interested in seeing is Moondragon though. Moondragon, daughter of Drax, seems like a natural continuation of Guardians Of The Galaxy storyline. Could potentially include Drax if he is still around. Would be a nice father/daughter storyline which has not really been explored in the MCU yet.
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 4/21/2018, 5:31 PM
@Scarilian - That’s kind of what I’m saying. Some people act like Black Widow or Scarlet Witch solo films, but really how many bigger more interesting characters are left to get solo movies? And if the idea is to finally cater to an underserved demographic and expand the fan base by making more female led movies then that number of potential properties shrinks to almost nothing.

And nothing against Moondragon but Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Spectrum, Ms. America (with a name change) or Tigra would all make for far more appealing solo movies to me.

@TheUnworthyThor - There are some with potential such as Photon, Scarlet Witch, or Wasp.
L0RDbuckethead
L0RDbuckethead - 4/21/2018, 7:47 PM
@Scarilian - Moondragon is one of the main reasons why I think it'a Gamora that dies in Infinity War rather than Drax. Gotta keep him alive.

Although they could potentially do the father/daughter storyline if Vision makes it out of A4. Have them have the twins and then go from there.

But Moondragon would be dope:

"We spoke with Kevin Feige, and he thought it was a good idea. I think they are developing it right now."

So... she knows nothing.

Feige saying he thought it was a good idea does not mean it is in development at all.

The Avengers team is already going to be shifting to be female centric in Phase 5 and beyond - so why make a seperate Avengers team-up film solely to shove all the female heroes into.
