This came out of nowhere! According to firstshowing.net, Stephen Dorff is gearing up to star in a movie(or series of movies) set before the events of "Blade" and featuring his character from that first movie, Deacon Frost, with Stephen Norrington returning to direct..
"It will be a prequel to the Blade movies, Deacon's story. It's a new trilogy the director has created. It will [be] cool," Dorff explained. "We hope to shoot the first film next year. Frost is a character I have never been able to shake."
It seems as if Dorff is eager to return to the Vampire/horror genre after the success of "Twishite" and the "Underworld" movies, although he also states..
"I would rather be in a good, small film than a hit which wasn't any good,"
Norrington has not directed a picture since the disastrous "League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen", but he is showing signs of life agin with this as well as his proposed "Crow" reboot/make/imagining!
Personally i thought the first Blade was a decent film, easily bettered by Guillermo Del Toro's s sequel however. I remember Dorff being a pretty good villain, but does anyone really want to see these movies? Especially without Blade himself in them!
