GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Star Chris Pratt Responds To Idea Of Playing BOOSTER GOLD In James Gunn's DCU

DC Studios' "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate left us with plenty to discuss, but the fact we're getting a Booster Gold TV series on HBO Max was arguably among the most exciting announcements.

Fans have been waiting a long time to see the time-travelling superhero in live-action, and while Donald Faison briefly showed up in what would become Legends of Tomorrow's series finale after its cancellation, the character has yet to be given the chance to shine. Well, with that set to change in the new DCU, the question remains: who will play Booster Gold?

During an interview with Rolling Stone to discuss Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt responded to fans who would like to see him make his DCU debut as Booster.

While he hasn't discussed the role with James Gunn, Pratt did respond: "If James thought I was right for it, then you know that would I would have to consider it."

The site also made sure to ask the filmmaker about his plans as DC Studios' co-CEO and the possibility of this leading to a new rivalry between Marvel and DC. "I think it’s the opposite," he stated. "To be frank, I think the better Marvel movies do, it’s better for DC, and the better DC movies do, it’s better for Marvel."

"When people see bad movies, they don’t want to spend more money on seeing more movies. So you want good movies to happen, especially since we’re making two or three movies a year at DC. So every movie that Marvel has is sort of an advertising for comic-book films, and vice versa. And you don’t want to scare off people from going to the theater."

"And if we’re both making good movies, that’s the best of all situations, which keeps the ball bouncing back and forth. At that point, we can talk about rivalries, and it’d be fun."

DC has a long way to go before being considered rivals to Marvel Studios, even after poor reviews for movies like Eternals and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Gunn has a great attitude about the situation, though, and it will be fun to see how the success of each shared world informs the other in the years ahead.

Booster Gold doesn't currently have a premiere date.

Well now I'm almost certain Peter dies, also that's a great answer from Gunn. Both companies need to succeed for one another

@bobevanz - Or maybe no 1 dies and they all ride off into the sunset like the original Star Wars trilogy. Not sure if Disney will let Gunn kill any of those characters especially with Secret Wars coming soon. They want as many recognizable faces as possible to get people back in theaters.

Will people be disappointed if no 1 dies in Gotg 3?

@mastakilla39 - I most certainly won't be disappointed as I'd like the entire team to survive.

But for those that need / want death as something that is a 'high stake', I'm only willing to sacrifice Peter & / or Drax from the OG team.

Keep away from Rocket!

That's a great answer. And not just for CBMs. Same goes with other genres. Could see game adaptations, especially after The Last of Us, DnD and Super Mario Bros, starting to do better now that they find more (critical) success

So Chris Pratt and Jason sudeikis as Ted Kord and booster gold respectively?

I actually really think that could work.

It's not an easy role to fill, that's for sure. The actor will need to have the perfect balance of humor and heroism to bring the character to life on the screen. Let's hope they cast someone who can do justice to the beloved DC Comics character. After all, Booster Gold is not just any superhero - he's the ultimate showman, and we deserve nothing less than a truly golden performance.

If he wasn't Starlord, then yeah I can definitely see him as Booster Gold.

@IMCOOLURNOT - It just makes so much sense.
I mean, we blame Phase 4 for superhero fatigue and it has certainly contributed, but it's also all the bad movies from other companies. Bad DCEU and Sony cbms have been undermining all the progress that good cbms have made.
If the GA get enough comic book movies that use Batman & Robin logic of 'Here's a superhero, with powers and you just have to accept it despite how silly it is', then the audience will eventually get tired of the genre and will regard it as beneath them (like they used to do).

Also, it's the whole idea of competition. Bad DC movies have made Marvel complacent. They've been looking at DC getting away with making mediocre movies that don't really care about the audience and they've even started to do the same kinda things in their movies. Just movies that don't care about making sense or being good.

But good movies from DC (or even Sony) will create competition. Good, healthy competition. It will force Marvel to up it's game and not rest on it's laurels. And that means more good cbms for everyone and the GA will be coming back in to sit in all those empty seats next to us again and cheering right alongside us. It was good to have them with us recently for movies like Endgame and No Way Home. Let's not alienate them any further. Lets entice them back.

I love what James Gunn is saying here and with him now in charge of DC movies and Kevin making more of an effort to give us quality over quantity, I think we just about might be able to pull this thing (and the GA) back.

In the words of a very silly hero from one of the silliest and worst movies:
