AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Star Sebastian Stan Reveals Why He's Glad He Didn't Land Captain America Role

During a recent interview, Sebastian Stan has revealed why he's glad he missed out on playing Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger back in 2011. Hit the jump to hear more from the actor...

Before he was cast as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sebastian Stan audition for the titular role in Captain America: The First Avenger. That obviously ended up going to Chris Evans in what proved to be a piece of pitch-perfect casting by Marvel Studios. Stan hasn't done too badly playing The Winter Soldier as he's appeared in almost as many MCU movies as Evans over the past few years!

However, you have to believe that the actor has at least some regrets about missing out on starring as the Star Spangled Avenger, right? Apparently not! During a recent interview, Stan admitted that Marvel's decision "worked out" and that Bucky was actually a "much better role" for him in the end.

Stan went on to talk about now playing a "rehabilitated assassin" and confirmed that The Winter Soldier "now goes by White Wolf." With rumours pointing to Evans choosing to walk away from the role of Captain America following the release of Avengers 4 next year, there's a very good chance that the actor will actually be given the opportunity to suit up if the movies end up following the comics.

He's gonna be cast as him eventually, know what I'm sayin?

I mean, he didn't sign a 9-PICTURE DEAL with Marvel for no reason.

@L0RDbuckethead - Then again, he's White Wolf now, living in Wakanda...potential stories could be drawn from there instead.

Still hoping Chris Evans remains in the role of Captain America. Is simply perfect and anything else (regardless of comic book storylines) would be a let down.

I don't think Bucky or Falcon should take up the mantle of Captain America in the MCU. No one should for a very long time.

He’s happy he wasn’t cast as Steve Rogers because he looks nothing like Steve Rogers.

Wasn't there was an article here with a screenshot of someone on twitter asking him if he is White Wolf now and he said No he's the Winter Soldier?

I'm curious what his performance as Steve would've been like, but I think he's been perfect as Bucky. I think Stan has more of a cool slyness to him than Evans that really works as Bucky. Seeing him in I, Tonya I gave me a chance to see more of his range, so I'm hoping he gets a chance to really take the spotlight. I think he could bring a different kind of charisma to being Cap.

Evans can come off like the fun goofy guy at times, but he also has this very wholesome, introspective quality about him and an idealism that has made him a great fit as Steve. He also seems very genuine in an endearing way.

It's a cool thing when you're able to admire the actor in a way similar to how you admire the character. Not saying Stan doesn't have that. I haven't had as much exposure to him, but hopefully we'll get to know him better in the coming years.

Absolutely. And on a similar note, from io9:

"As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Benedict Cumberbatch, riding in an Uber in London, saw something upsetting on the side of a road: a cyclist, being beaten by several assailants. So Cumberbatch did the best thing he could possibly do: he stopped the Uber. And he chased down the muggers. And they ran away".

Seems that they're taking to this hero thing.

I hope that there'll be a fourth Captain America movie (preferably a loose Fallen Son adaptation) with Bucky, Falcon and Hawkeye (and maybe a little bit Iron Man)
