Frank Grillo Talks 'Crossbones' Costume And Filming For CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Teasing that he may not be done with filming after all, Frank Grillo talks here about reprising his Winter Soldier role in Captain America: Civil War, and also about reactions to photos of his costume
While taking a break from battling Chris Evans' Super Soldier and the new Avengers team last week, actor Frank Grillo call into the 93.3 WMMR radio station to talk about his return as Brock Rumlow aka Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War. When asked about set photos revealing his full costume, Grillo said, "It's funny because people really responded to it - it went viral, trended [like crazy], so I've been getting phone calls." The Winter Soldier actor then joked that his supervillain character is actually his alter-ego. "Crossbones is a violent, violent villain in these series," he said with a laugh. "And I finally feel I've been understood now. I feel complete; [people] get me."
Frank Grillo was then asked about the many filming locations for Captain America: Civil War, which includes Iceland among others. "My part of it is down here in Atlanta, but I think they are going off to Berlin for a little while," he explained. Speaking of his filming schedule, Grillo posted on Twitter last week that he had wrapped his scenes in Atlanta. And while this led many to believe that he would be killed off early in the movie, the actor's latest tweet may lay that speculation to rest. "To answer all those who think #Crossbones is done....... Don't get caught [with] your guard down," Frank Grillo tweeted earlier today along with the #MayhemNeverDone #x hashtags.
Anyhow, back at his 93.3 WMMR interview, Frank Grillo talked a bit about the ensemble cast of Captain America: Civil War. "[These movies] film for months and months and there's a lot of characters, so It's great fun." he started. "And everybody down here gets along real well. Me, Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Jeremy Renner were hanging out last night, having some food. Just a bunch of cool guys getting a chance to be eight-year-olds for a little while." What do you think?
In other interesting Captain America: Civil War news, Paul Bettany, who is set to reprise his beloved Avengers: Age of Ultron role as the Vision, recently tweeted that he has arrived in Atlanta, Georgia to start shooting. Furthermore, several "Bidder" roles have been added to the cast on the Internet Movie Database which implies there will be some sort of auction scene in the highly-anticipated Marvel movie. Playing the "Auctioneer" is actor Ray Sahetaphy from The Raid movies.
Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016.
