Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies Pass $10 Billion Thanks To CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Captain America: Civil War may be closing in on $1 billion, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe has reached a phenomenal benchmark this weekend by grossing over $10 billion from only thirteen movies...
Thanks to Captain America: Civil War, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has now reached the $10 billion mark worldwide, an incredible feat that no other franchise can lay claim to. In fact, the MCU (which began with Iron Man back in 2008) is the biggest franchise ever, topping the likes of Harry Potter, James Bond, and yes, even Star Wars. The fact it's done so in just eight years is obviously amazing.
Three (soon to be four) of Marvel's movies have crossed $1 billion and only three - Phase One origin stories - earned less than $500 million. The Kevin Feige led studio has yet to have a single flop, and while they may be taking some risks over the next few years with the likes of Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel, it's hard to imagine them dropping the ball when you look at these numbers.
Below is a breakdown of how each movie has performed courtesy of the fine folks at Box Office Mojo.
