In this new video from ABC, we get a great behind-the-scenes look at the making of
Captain America: Civil War, along with some fantastic cast interviews from Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johanssen and more!
“This is a fight within family." said Chris Evans.
"This isn’t just good guy versus bad guy, and that’s what makes it far more relatable and akin to the struggles that we have in life.” On the film's soon-to-be-famous airport fight, Evans teased something huge.
“This is an enormous battle with twelve characters. You’re playing with a lot of green screen. At the time, it’s just a sweaty mess of punches and kicks. And then, you see it put together and it’s really a masterpiece." Despite this, Evans maintains the story is the heart of the film.
"You can have all the special effects in the world, but unless you have substance beneath it, no one cares. We've seen enough special effects with this generation. We know what an explosion looks like."
Robert Downey Jr. sees the conflict between friends as a natural progression of the story.
“I think it’s kind of natural for familiarity to breed contempt. You can get more ticked off with your best friends and closest allies than you can with perfect strangers.” When quizzed on Tony's sudden surge of accountability, Downey remarked:
"It seems like they tear apart these cities, kind of like the more realistic version of Team America. When is someone going to say 'enough?'" When asked about starring in another solo Iron Man film, Downey was rather honest.
"I feel like I could do one more."

Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo and from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. With an all-star cast that includes Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Emily VanCamp, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo, with William Hurt, and Martin Freeman, Captain America: Civil War is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016
