Captain America: The First Avenger Movie Review

Captain America: The First Avenger.

I liked this movie. It was a great origin story with some good action scenes. The movies direction was to portray Steve “Captain America” Rodgers as a regular man with heart and a selfless attitude. He wanted to do what was right for his country.

Making a movie about Captain America usually means that the hero was supposed to be a caricature of the American dream. Ideas such as: freedom, the ability to choose and do what you want to do, and above all GREED. Yes Americans are greedy, now there’s nothing wrong with greed, but I am glad that the director Joe Johnston and writers Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely choose not to go that route.

From the beginning, Captain America was sold to us a selfless and country-first man. He was humanized and I felt like I should root for him.

I was a little disappointed in the perceived weak Red Skull though. I mean ok, he killed a few people, but in order to make him more menacing and an even more evil threat, I wanted to at least see him destroy one of those cities on his map – see, I’m an American and I‘m greedy. Seriously though, Captain America was a good origin story and now we know the true grit of Steven Rodgers. Now Cap, its on to help Iron Man, Thor Hawkeye and Nick Furry battle Loki in the Avengers.

Red skull had to be contend. if you had him destroying a major city. then you alter history from Hitler to Red skull, being the worst in the world. and that might not set well with a few people, who really fought in the war

@capreborn: Very good point. It has to seem like it fits into real history otherwise you may as well leave out the Nazi's and WWII altogether.

Good review Eddrick, glad you liked it!
