Captain America: The First Avenger Storyboards Reveal Climactic Action Sequence!

Martin Asbury, storyboard artist, illustrator and strip cartoonist, recently updated his official site with storyboards for an action sequence in Marvel's much-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger. The storyboards, featuring the avenger in combat with several pilots & the menacing Red Skull, also further reveals a nod to Thor's universe, and potentially spoils aspects of the film's ending. With a Spoiler Warning, check them out below!

Be sure to read the captions on the right, if you haven't already done so. And evidently, while it's possible these storyboards may not go down in the actual film, it's quite interesting. What do you think? Special thanks to Ed Mazmanian for the heads up!

UPDATE: Looks like these storyboards are confirmed to be legitimate... Drop below the censored pic to read a detailed description of what they showed.

The storyboards are reminiscent of the classic action ending to Cappy's stint in WWII before he gets dumped into the ocean to be frozen for preservation into the modern day (when the Avengers find him). There are a few differences in that Bucky is nowhere to be found, and the Red Skull is shown triggering the cosmic cube--probably used as a more plausible time travel device than cryogenics. They show Captain America (Chris Evans) boarding a large bomber plane in order to confront The Red Skull (Hugo Weaving). The Skull’s goons attack, Cap fights his way to the cockpit of the plane, and that’s where things get good:

1.When Cap approaches The Skull, the villain is in some sort of trance, being bathed in a “screaming light.” This light is directly referenced as emanating from The Cosmic Cube.

2.The Light from the Cube gives The Skull freaky otherworldly visions. There’s direct reference made to him seeing “The Nine Realms.”

3.The storyboards end with the cube “overloading” and blasting a hole through the top of the bomber jet.

There are still plenty of sites still carrying the images, and last we checked Asbury's site is too, so you can still see this if you want to.

Captain America: The First Avenger focuses on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull. Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Stanley Tucci and Hugo Weaving, the film releases July 22, 2011.

If the Cube opens up the Nine Realms, then that's how Thor will make it back to Earth in The Avengers. Because the end credits scene had Selvig, Fury, and the Cube.

Bucky's not on the bomber, please tell me there not going the ultimate route with bucky that would be a total waste of the character, which would mean no winter soldier. I thought Sebastian Stan was signed a four picture deal.

This is kind of a ridiculous idea because it would be the UNiverse's greatest ever coincidence lol, but hey ho, I'll share...

Red Skull is teleported into the Nine Realms at the end of Cap.
In the Avengers when Loki returns it is revealed he has an accomplice...the Red Skull...brought into the modern world.

Haha, yeah I didn't think so either...

@ Kaedus- I think that is the direction that this is going. This could link Loki and Red Skull together.

Thank you ahead of time for no spoiler warning. Its not like I care that much but I do like to know when I am getting a spoiler instead of instant spoilage.

I do think The Avengers would be cool if it involved a Loki/Red Skull team-up plus another, new villain.
The Red Skull would only have a very minor role in that though, so as not to make it too similar to the previous movies. t'd just be a cool way of explaining him coming into the modern world. Maybe done via an after credit scene, although I'd rather that be used to set up an entirely new character. Either way, just a cool musing lol.
