Extended Captain America TV Spot Features Possible Death Of A Major Character!

SPOILER WARNING: Containing a handful of new scenes, the latest (low quality) spot features a new look at the attack on a HYDRA train and seemingly reveals the death of a major character! PLUS: New still featuring Cap and a HYDRA soldier...

By JoshWilding - Jul 14, 2011 02:07 AM EST

"Captain America: The First Avenger" will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull.

While the following TV spot contains only a few extra seconds of footage (a couple of new lines of dialogue and some shots of Chris Evans in the suit) it also features an extended look at a previously seen moment between Cap and Bucky on the HYDRA train, which seemingly results in the death of the latter judging by what we can see here. Take a look below and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

And thanks to CineComics.fr, we have this new still from the movie.

With an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Tommy Lee Jones as Col. Chester Phillips, Stanley Tucci as Abraham Erskine and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in 3D on July 22, later this year!

I think the trailer sells it. That lil scene on the train added some heart to it.

The movie looks great but I don't care what anyone says, those Hydra goons look like cast off's from Gi Joe: Rise Of Cobra.

Looks good!!! A couple points.

- Interesting that Peggy Carter is quoting Princess Leia.

- Why is it that MARVEL studios don't seem to realise that 3D is puching people away from giong to the cinema, not attracting them?

you know, when i first read the novelization i thought Bucky didn't die because i was expecting him to die around the same time cap gets frozen. but after seeing this footage, i went back and re-read the train sequence through the ending and i just noticed that the train sequence is the last time Bucky is mentioned by name. when the howlers lead the assault on the main hydra base in the climax, it simply refers to them as "caps team." during the train sequence, it does say that the large hydra trooper blows a hole in the side of the train car. so maybe that's whats happening this shot, Bucky gets blown through the hole as well, tries to hang on, cap tries to save him but fails. here's hoping. i guess i will now renounce my statement that Bucky doesn't die.

@ Teabag

Well, my only real concern is that it may push potential viewers away and hurt the movie's BO.

It it help then fine I guess; although I hate 3D.

i'll only watch films that are shot in 3d & not converted to 3d.

transformers 3 was my first 3d film & it looked fantastic.

Sebastian Stan is contracted to appear in 3 marvel films......

so while it may be led to believe that he does die, as that what Cap believes, (and it is his perspective we're seeing the movie from) he will not actually die

Just hope this doesnt turn out like GIJOE. It just doesnt look dark enough to me....but Ill be there the first 3 or 4 days....No 3D for me.I wish the fighting looked like los angeles battle earth...thge style I mean...Im afraid of the GIJOE esque look......So far this year X-men wa sthe best summer flick.....Thor was underwhelmong and Transformers was shite. @ superdude

"How can there be a sequel if Cap ends up in the Avengers?"

1. They can always show more of his time in WWII.

2. They can make the sequel in present times. Cap has his own comic with things that take place outside the Avengers, just like any other character.

It's a shame that most of you think Marvel is stupid enough to let a major plot spoiler slip into a trailer. They are up to their neck in secrecy, they make their actors as tight lipped as possible, even those they have not even officially signed yet, and you think they would let the whole world know in a [frick]ing trailer that Bucky dies? I think not.
Coldblood6
Coldblood6 - 7/14/2011, 8:48 AM
@ Fangz

3D doesn't give me headaches or nausea like some people. But it can make the screen darker like it did for THOR. THOR in 2D was a much better cinematic experience.

Ethically I feel like with 3D that I'm paying more money for an inferior product (darker screen, warped images, blurry action, and gimmicky visuals that don't add to the experience). So I really have a hard time supporting it. I only do it for MARVEL studios and only if there is no 2D option.

I'm gonna see it in 3d eventhough I hate the shit, because I always take my nephew and he loves it like its kiddie crack. I figure I have the rest of my life to watch it in 2d at home when I buy the DVD or Bluray.

My movie theater probably will only have this in 3d like they did with Thor and I'm not waiting for this to come on dvd.
