This comes from movie blog site Remingtons...
"A source at John Landis’ Burke and Hare film shoot informed me that due to The Wolfman’s poor performance, the Captain American film (set to be released 2011 according to imdb) has been pushed back.
Considering a look at boxofficemojo.com reveals the $150 million dollar werewolf flick has grossed under $100 million worldwide, this doesn’t seem too unlikely. The delay in shooting could indicate a change in directors."
Interesting stuff..and pretty believable given
The Wolfman's poor performance and the fact that they have yet to cast Cap with production due to begin within a couple of months. The again, they can't exactly make
The Avengers without Cap so if Marvel still have plans to get that movie together the delay can't be too long. How does this tie in with the recent "wish list" contenders? I have no idea, but I'm willing to bet they were complete bull! Another interesting thing is that the source of the rumor came from the set of
Burke And Hare..the same place that the recent
Batman 3 rumors came from. So either they have an insider thats willing to spill the beans..or an asshole that enjoys making stuff up! We should find out soon one way or another.
Anyway, if it is true its a shame in one way..but then again it could well be a blessing in disguise.
Update 1: Superherohype now claim that Marvel have been in touch and the rumor's are false. But..we shall see!
Update 2: Marvel have also contacted C.H.U.D with this...
I just heard back from some folks at Marvel at they categorically, up and down, completely and without hesitation deny that there is any delay on The First Avenger: Captain America or that the production is any trouble. Everything is moving forward right now, they tell me.
Of course thats what the studio would say regardless of the actual situation..but its looking like this is bull so far. Johnston is our man!...along with that pathetic short list of actors:(
