John Barrowman Wants To Be "Captain America!"

"Torchwood"'s Captain Jack Harkness revealed at Comic Con that he would very much like to play a different Captain in an upcoming Marvel movie..

At the Comic-Con panel for the third season of Dr Who spin off, "Torchwood" Barrowman expressed his desire to play the first Avenger himself!

MTV is reporting that the onscreen Captain Jack told the audience that he'd like to play another popular Captain -- namely, Steve Rogers.

"You know what I want to play? Captain America," Barrowman proclaimed to the wildly receptive crowd, before adding that it "so won't happen."

Still, Barrowman's appeal has at least one supporter. An audience member later went to the microphone to tell the actor, "I think you're the only one who could play Captain America."



God loves a chancer! Barrowman certainly has the looks and build for Cap, and he's a solid actor. I'm not a big fan of Torchwood. However, he has gained a legion of fans with both that, and appearing in Dr Who previously.

Look at it this way, I'v heard worse suggestions!(Ahem Jason Lewis)

I think he's a great actor but I think he just cant dial down the gay enough for Cap!

@TheAnswer ..yeah thats true, he is a little effeminate. But that may just be because Harkness is gay..or at least, bisexual. I have never seen him in anything other than Torchwood so im not sure how well he tones down the gay or not!

Dont think it matters, he was probably just relaying his willingness to play Cap. Just like every other 20 to 30 year old actor in the industry.

I could totally see Barrowman as Cap! 'Tone down the gay'? If you're referring to his character in 'Torchwood', he's described as a brash omni-sexual from the 51st century. Aside from the make-out scenes wtih Ianto and Captain John, he's played the character pretty butch.

Aesir - that is your opinion. You are OBVIOUSLY not a fan and have probablly never given 'Torchwood' or 'Doctor Who' a proper chance (just watch 'Children of Earth'). My opinion is that he and both shows are BRILLIANT. He'd be an excellent candidate for the Cap!
