The folks at E!Online have debuted a new movie still from Marvel's much-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger film. Featuring Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in his Strategic Scientific Reserve garb, observing a prototype for his mighty shield, check it out below. I also stumbled across a few new low-res stills from Upper Deck's slew of trading cards, and an old one in HQ.

Captain America: The First Avenger focuses on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull. Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Stanley Tucci and Hugo Weaving, the film releases July 22, 2011.

Hugo Weaving plays in the nerdiest movies lol. Mr. Smith in the Matrix, Elrond in The Lord of the Rings, and now the Red Skull haha.

Looking forward to this. I was looking forward to Green lantern but was very disappointed with the end result. Does anyone think Green lantern has screwed it up for future comic book movies? I feel like its the equivalent to batman and robin. Minus the rubber titties.

@Marvel72, last I checked it was supposed to be attached to Transformers 3 (says RealIronMan). So we shouldn't have to wait much longer.

@PaulRom That wasn't RIM who said that. The Hero Complex guy did. And that same guy also said in a recent tweet the trailer should turn up this week.

@REMIMARKS- Not really it's just that this movie had alot of potential to be one of the best CBMs ever. Expectations were high since it had alot to compete with and it comes from a studio that was making a huge comeback. What was their last film?.... Oh yeah, The Dark Knight!!! (don't make me mention Jonah Hex) So many fans were so confident about this when I knew it would turn out to be this typical CBM: Irresponsible funny guy messes up in life, becomes hero, faces problem, solves and becomes the superhero everyone loves, kills villian, gets girl, the end. Now those same people say we shouldn't take it seriously, it's a "fun" movie, all that hypocritical stuff. This film should've took itself seriously and it would've been right next to TDK. Hope they have learned from this and make an epic sequel. Keep Reynolds and be Hal Jordan (enough with the jokes), stay anywhere else besides Earth, explain why Sinestro turned evil all of a sudden, and make a name for the other Corps. members! (toy revenues will boost up ;D)

Intruder, It will work better if the shield is assigned to him. Choosing stuff from a table is a weak-flavored sauce. He uses the garbage can lid, the car door and the old-fashion shield in the movie. I don't see why the shield wouldn't be specifically designed for him.

lol I just recognized the actor playing Dum Dum. He's hidden nicely. Good CBM make-over.

There's nothing in the trailer to make me think this about to be the CBM of the year, But I'm going to see it because it's Captain America.

Can't wait to see him confused in the modern world. That should be interesting.

doesn't seem strange to you that is just a month away and still we have not seen much promotion about this film ??? not even a second trailer ????

We've seen a lot more from other CMB with a lot more time in advanced, even a year, cases like: Thor, GL, X-men, Spiderman, Batman even that Ghost Rider, they are releasing new pics with months prior to their premier....
It seems kinda fishy they have not relesased much from CA:TFA, but I want to see it soooo bad and more importanly, I want the movie to be a success !

With both TF3 and HP7pt2 coming up first the marketing for this movie has to hit the nail precisely on the head.

I would suspect timing of the release of the second trailer would have to be spot on perfect to both create a big impact and not disappear amidst the hype and furor for those too movies.

WHERE THE [frick] IS THE NEXT TRAILER?????!!!!!
ThaMessenger07
ThaMessenger07 - 6/21/2011, 6:08 AM
The Second Trailer needs a film to come out with. Transformers is the more sensible one film to be released with. They need to come hard following Harry Potter, only a week later.

Internationally Potter is loved and Cap represents something that is not seen so fondly now a days. So the marketing needs to be careful. It's better to spark interest during the release of the bigger franchises instead of competing with them.

Putting a trailer before Transformers 3 Imbeds the film in the minds of the action flick viewers. These people want to see a good action flick and the next Cap trailer will reveal plenty.

Later they will bombard T.V with more spots. These will be fun and catchy. They will play on heavy rotation on children's and family networks to get kids excited. They will be on 7/11 slurpy Cups. The toy commercials and the BK or MCD's commercials for Cap will be in rotation non stop. They will use Thor, Iron-Man, and Hulk snippets to pull attention. Same as they did for a Thor. This will get the general public ready to see this film.

Then they release the final Trailer the week before and a trailer may play before H/P. The final Trailer will seal the deal. Then the film it's self may actually include an Avengers Teaser similar to the ComicCon one which will latch on to the general public in an unimaginable way.
