EDITORIAL: Should CAPTAIN MARVEL Make An Appearance In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR?

We've finally gotten our first look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, so when can we expect to see her on the big screen? Is it a good idea to have her make an appearance in the biggest Avengers film yet?

The release of Avengers: Infinity War is going to be a landmark for Marvel Studios. After six years of build up since The Avengers hit theatres, and a full decade since the first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was released, a plan of enormous scale is finally about to hit its climax.

Seeing all the heroes we've come to know over the years all in one enormous movie is going to be pretty incredible, and Marvel is still planning on expanding. With Captain Marvel coming out next spring, the Marvel roster is going to get even bigger after Infinity War is released—well, depending on how many characters die in the fight against Thanos.

Infinity War is going to be filled to the brim with characters, and probably don't need any extras added. Even still, there have been rumors about Brie Larson's Captain Marvel showing up in this summer's epic team-up.

While the movie’s directors have denied that the character will show up in Infinity War, a new rumor suggests that Carol Danvers could make an appearance in the film. Some fans think that a True Believers one-shot comic that ties into the release of Infinity War might hint at Captain Marvel being in the film, but this does not seem particularly likely.

As previously mentioned, the movie is already going to include a ton of heroes, so many that it will be very difficult to give all of them a meaningful role. Adding another character into this mix is only going to make it harder to tie the story together.

One of the factors in favor of Captain Marvel appearing in the film is the fact that her own solo movie takes place in the 1990s. By establishing that Danvers was already Captain Marvel when the events of Infinity War unfold, aren’t the filmmakers obligated to include her in the movie? Not necessarily, since there are a ton of reasons that could potentially explain Danvers’ absence.

Captain Marvel could be busy on a mission in outer space during the battle against Thanos, and this is a pretty good excuse for a couple reasons. First off, it establishes that she has been doing things off-world, expanding the cosmic side of the MCU. Also, it explains why she hasn’t shown up during any of the other times when the fate of the world was at stake.

So if Carol Danvers is going to make an appearance in the movie (and she probably won’t), it will likely be a post-credits scene. This is the most reasonable way to include the character in the film, as a post-credits scene doesn’t necessarily have to take place after the events of the film it follows. This could set up not only her own solo film but also her likely appearance in Avengers 4.

@jph152 - I read a comment a short while ago saying we need more articles like this. I agree.

@jph152 - These types are articles tend to spark interesting comments as opposed to this movie has now made this much. I would like to see her show up in a role appearance.

I'm reasonably sure she will make an appearance in a post-credit stinger, probably taken from her own movie.

@Zer0squad - This is most likely. She won't be in most of the film, but an after credits scene is pretty likely.

Need to see if we like her before her own movie. Like Black Panther.

There have been reports on multiple sites from apparently reliable sources that she'll either make a brief appearance in Avengers 4 or be in one of the after credit scenes. Some have had photos of Brie arriving on the set of Avengers 4 and talking to Chris Evans.

No. To much going on already. Don't rush it like WB/DC did.

@DoubleD - I think she will. she probably survives a dreaded encounter with a TSA agent asking for her number, right before she meets up with the rest of Avengers at an airport.

There's going to be an Angela moment at the end of the movie and Carol will suddenly find herself in the future(modern times).

I think it would be neat if she shows up at the end of the movie with the Kree. If Thanos truly is the cosmic threat he's been made out to be, it should be more than just Earth trying to stop him. It's be cool to see the Kree, Skrulls, Nova Corps. (whats left of them), SHi'arr and other civilizations come lend a hand in stopping him.

Not vital, but if she's been around since the 90's then it's gonna be a question as to why she isn't involved in such a big threat? Maybe she's off on another planet kicking ass.

Captain Marvel will make an appearance in Infinity War because she was cast before her film had directors. Why would Marvel not want the directors' input on casting unless the plan was for her to appear in a different film first?

I hope she is in an after credits scene and it is done well, really build some hype. But this article makes a solid case for her not making appearance.
