When Geoff Johns took over Green Lantern after the original Green Lantern: Rebirth, he reinvigorated the mythology of Green Lantern by creating the other corps that would align themselves with different emotions on the Emotional Spectrum. The introduction of the Sinestro Corps and many others opened up the possibility of countless storylines that could expand on the Lantern Corps mythology.
Now, Geoff Johns makes his return to the intergalactic beat to kick off the new storyline for Green Lanterns: Rebirth, which will focus on the partnership between Simon Baz and newly appointed Green Lantern of sector 2814, Jessica Cruz. Just as the two rookie Lanterns are forced to work together, a new prophecy arises about a long lost Guardian and what seems to be an all-new ring full of unknown power.
What this entails for the young Green Lanterns remains a mystery for now, but it looks to be an interesting one. It's possible that the appearance of this forgotten Guardian and new ring could be the key to stopping Doctor Manhattan from destroying the heroes of the DC Universe.
