DC Comics Announces DCEASED: HOPE AT WORLD'S END Digital-Only Series Which Launches TODAY

In a move that could change the comic book industry as we know it moving forward, DC Comics has today announced that they're released a new digital-only series titled DCeased: Hope at World's End...

Like the film and television industry, comic books have essentially been put on hold as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus far, publishers have held off on releasing Digital titles if they can't be released in comic book stores, but DC Comics just made a game-changing announcement by revealing plans for a new addition to its Digital First line: DCeased: Hope at World's End

Written by Tom Taylor with artwork from Dustin Nguyen, Renato Guedes, Carmine Di Giandomenico, and Marco Failla, the first issue goes on sale today and is a spinoff of the main DCeased series.

It's set to reveal what led to Earth's heroes falling to the zombie Anti-Life Equation, and will follow Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Stephanie Brown, Wally West, Black Adam, Jimmy Olsen, and a number of other familiar faces (it takes place in during that time jump in DCeased #5).

"There was a point in DCeased where we had to make the decision to skip weeks of losses and triumphs and heroism or our first miniseries wouldn't exactly be a miniseries," Taylor said in a statement. "But we knew we had a larger story to tell, so we seeded plots we could expand on and deliberately left huge characters off the table for the future. That future is here."

Man...i want Taylor on Superman instead of Bendis.
Actually, i would take anyone over Bendis, even Scott Snyder!

But Taylor knows his shit, even when he writes an evil Superman from the Injustice universe.
DCeased had some wholesome moments, especially between father and son! :')

@Doomsday8888 - You don't like Scott Snyder? He had the best Batman run of the past 10 years.

@dracula
I mean...he basically wrote Batman for the past 10 years, so... :P
Yeah, yeah we had King and he started really good, but then he went completely retard.
Same for Snyder honestly.
Overall, his Batman run is not...bad.
Now everything he did after that on the other hand...

Words cannot describe how much i f*cking hate his Metal and how he butchered DC's Lore and continuity.

Many started reading DC comics with the Flashpoint reboot because it was a nice starting point, but if you're a long time reader, you just KNOW that Snyder is a Morrison and Geoff wannabe writer.
Dude built his whole career on their work, but that doesn't make you a good writer.
Now i actually think that he's a really good storyteller, it's just that his ideas sucks ass now.
Knowing how trashy his Metal was, i tremble even thinking about what he's about to unleash with his Death Metal.
More of those shitty ass Joker dragons i suppose or stuff like that.

I used to like him when he was more...grounded, with stuff like the Court of Owls or even Death of the Family.
Now he just wants to go bonkers for the sake of it and the bad thing is that his bullshit actually sells shitload of copies.

The absolute state of comicbook industry...sigh.

@Doomsday8888 - i f*cking hate his Metal

Metal was good in a "pre-Frank Miller" mildly campy way. Then the event ended but Metal didn't and it pretty much tanked what good feelings came from reading the story. Batman Who Laughs would have been such a great character if he were used sparingly instead of being so overexposed that even Wolverine would say it was too much.

@Reeds2Much
Can't say i was super crazy about the concept of the Batman who lols but yeah...i was willing to give it a chance, but like you said, overexposure killed -ironically enough- any real possibility to properly develope the character.

And for the life of me, i can't even understand why someone would use that character to boost sales, i get it when it comes to Wolvie, but this f*cker was born...like yesterday!
He's not even a character, just a plot device, one HUGE deus ex machina.
There's NOTHING about him that fascinates me.

I'm good with Owlman and that's it.

@Doomsday8888 - Bendis on Superman and the Legion of Superheroes has been a [frick]ing nightmare. He should stick to his creator-owned stuff, and I think Naomi was a damn good book. But, honestly, Bendis ruined my favorite super teams (Legion, X-Men) and he destroyed a good thing on Superman (Jon Kent) which had a poor domino effect on the Super Sons property.

@Battabing
Didn't know you were a Legion and X-Men fan.
But yeah, i agree, and Naomi was good because he was just a co-writer there, but when she debuted in Action Comics she was annoying as f*ck.

Shit, his Young Justice is also trash.

His Action Comics and Superman are his best books and that's saying something.

What he did to Jon or Jor-El or the way he's writing LOSH...I'll never forgive him for that, some people are beyond redemption.

@Doomsday8888 - Well, I first found the X-Men with the 90's cartoon, and then jumped into the comics at the time. But they were mostly trash, so I went further back to the Claremont/Byrne days when the X-Men were just comic book gold.
As for the Legion, I discovered them with Tom/Mary Bierbaum's Legionnaires. So I dug back into the Levitz/Giffen run where I discovered The Great Darkness Saga. Just all around great stuff from DC and Marvel at the time (including New Teen Titans).

*SPOILERS FOR DCEASED*

DCeased was a really unexpected surprise for me. Tom Taylor just really knows how to tug at those heart strings. It's especially great for anyone who loves Jon and the supersons!

Run a pitch by Tom Taylor and he'll turn it into a blockbuster franchise.

I bought this after seeing this post, I’m a huge collector and loved this series, I got the regular and variants of all of Dceased and Unkillables so I was happy about this, my only thing is as a collector I enjoy getting the books and variants so I’m a bit disappointed it’s digital only but otherwise, this was a great story to set up the events after the original run. Tom Taylor is a great writer, I mean this guy knows how to break your heart and makes you really feel what’s going on in the pages ! Is it going to be monthly or bi-monthly I wonder ?
