Sure, 2022 was definitely a good start for the DCEU to get back on its feet again, but 2023 has me hoping for DC to become an unstoppable machine that just throws out amazing quality content at us.
That hope is being faithfully put into the hands of one of their many upcoming films, 'BLUE BEETLE', arriving in this theaters on August 18th, of this year.
Just recently, a test screening occurred for the film in front of a lucky audience, and just like for 'THE FLASH' movie, it received very high praise for what it had to offer.
"There have been some early test screenings and reactions say that this movie is super entertaining and features some really great hand-to-hand combat." - Animated Times
Hear that? Entertaining, and has great fight scenes, guess we will finally be receiving a DC movie in a long time that won't be panned by critics.
And why would it? The star of this movie is the fun, energetic character of Cobra Kai, Xolo Mariduena, who I think is the best casting choice for this movie. Blue Beetle is a teenage kid and not a brooding adult figure like Ben Affleck's Batman, so his character should be everything but saddening. Plus, the costume is great.
What is great about adding Blue Beetle to the universe of DC, is that he seems like a character who can contrast with the darkness of that world.
I imagine this movie to work as a Spider-Man movie, sort of along the lines of Tom Holland's Spider-Man movie saga.
It features a young, light-hearted hero that is gifted powers from some weird, bug-like cause, and learns the hardships and nobility of what it truly means to stand up, and become a hero. And, their characters are both inspired by different bug families, so if I like Spider-Man, I can't help but remain fairly optimistic about liking Blue Beetle.
Like 'THE FLASH' movie, this film will host another test screening again sometime on a future date, with more added to it. If what was shown at their first test screening was considered to be pretty good so far, I have no doubt in my mind that it can only get better from here.
Who is ready for 'BLUE BEETLE'? Because I know I sure am!
